This local Wolfdog joined an Olympic ski event and triggered the finish-line camera. This is Nazgul. He snuck into a cross-country skiing sprint this morning and raced the homestretch with some competitors before being escorted home. 14/10 someone get him a medal

Not one single Iowa Representative had a townhall during the recess. Not one. Who exactly was out there trying to advocate for medical neglect and starvation of children?

NBC News confirms this report, adding that Matt Whitaker (now US ambassador to NATO) will consider coming back to run for #IASen. That would create a big problem for Ashley Hinson #IA02, who is widely seen as the top GOP candidate for Senate if Ernst retires. www.nbcnews.com/politics/202...

Did you forget? We didn't. Trump promised to release the Epstein files. He didn’t. His administration blocked investigations. His allies shut down subpoenas. The question isn’t just who’s on the list. It’s: what are they hiding?

Six months into Donald Trump's presidency and parents are having to choose between taking out a loan or letting their families go hungry just so they can buy school supplies

More Perfect Union@moreperfectunion.bsky.social

A stunning 39% of parents say they can’t afford back-to-school shopping this year. 44% of parents plan to take on debt during back-to-school shopping. More than 50% of parents plan to sacrifice necessities like groceries to ensure their child has what they need for school.

ourlibertiesweprize.comFixing corruption requires recognizing itOur government has been whittling away at its own anti-corruption laws. It's time to fight back with new ones.
Our Liberties We Prize@www.ourlibertiesweprize.com

“Corrupt” is perhaps one of the President’s favorite words. The leader of the Republican party, for whom it seems every accusation is a confession, uses the word to describe others constantly. President Biden. The media. Secretary Clinton. The entire country. 🧵

On this Memorial Day, I've been thinking of my grandfather, who fought in World War II and helped to liberate Dachau. Contemplating how we make sure such things don't happen again--and how we are failing to do that.

Memorial is about more than flying the flag and putting flowers on graves. To honor a person's memory is to make sure that their sacrifices were not in vain. We have work to do.

So proud of my alma mater!

I could not be prouder to be part of this letter - signed by nearly 60 members of the Duke Law School faculty - reaffirming our commitment to academic freedom and the rule of law. And speaking out against what we see as recent threats to both. Critically, we do so alongside other law schools . . .

Miller's been out to destroy a lot of things since college. I used to read his columns in the student newspaper. He's always been a hateful, anti-American person.

Blake Emerson@blakeprof.bsky.social

This is completely false—as a matter of constitutional text, history, case law, and ordinary common sense. Miller is out to destroy our republic.

I'm sure you already saw the original. I'm pretty sure it was someone in the WH finding a way to distract him with something shiny so he wouldn't suggest a conservative U.S. bishop, thereby ensuring that person could not be the Pope.

So much of what we're seeing right now can be explained by men's sense of entitlement to women's labor. (And the anger those men feel when women won't do things women are "supposed" to do--or, worse, expect men to do those things, instead).

These examples provided the context in which Justice Jackson called for judges to exercise “raw courage” despite attacks. And, of course, “raw courage” was a phrase frequently invoked by Congressman John Lewis.

She also referenced Judges Waties Waring (SC) and 5th Circuit Judge Elbert Tuttle who also stood firm despite being threatened and socially ostracized for their issuance of decisions that upheld the meaning of the 14th amendment during the Civil Rights Movement.

Because the reporting across outlets hasn’t mentioned it I want to stress that Justice Jackson referenced the courageous & resolute stance of federal judges J. Shelly Wright in Louisiana and Frank Johnson in Alabama who issued school desegregation orders in the face of “Massive Resistance” to Brown.

Powerful remarks from Justice KBJ last night. There was tremendous appreciation and gratitude in the room for her willingness to speak to this important issue so candidly and forcefully. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/01/u...

As usual with these panels, the overwhelming characteristic is nonexistent or false information. Every call to understand and empathize with Trump voters (which is fine in the abstract!) needs to grapple with this.

Every time I hear him, his voice is weaker. He sounds like a sad, confused old man.

Justin Baragona@justinbaragona.bsky.social

This exchange is so very telling. Trump repeatedly claims the photoshopped MS-13 on Kilmar Abrego Garcia's knuckles is real, Terry Moran keeps telling him it isn't, prompting Trump to say this: "I never heard of you. I picked you. You’re not being very nice. He had MS-13 tattooed... Just say yes!"

Politics is more clear when you remember that the "waste" in "government waste" is the profit that some rich asshole isn't making off labor in the public sector whose only purpose is the common good.
