I looked through the last 100 English fan translations published on RHDN (over 3 weeks), and at least 74 are AI translations. I didn't realize this was the current state of the hobby. Make of that what you will.

This is a pretty great video, and also shouts out a rom hack I worked on, which was a nice surprise (I should have guessed from the thumbnail)!

Some video games have occasionally connected to other video games for a neat unlockable bonuses or exclusive content. Here's a deep dive examining the times this has happened in fighting games, from the well known, to the hilariously niche. Tap in.

I had specifically patched for and tested the interconnectivity with the original CvS, as I always loved that stuff. I'd made quite a few custom colors 25+ years ago! Had Pro come out in the US, I would have gladly used the Unlock All feature, as I spent weeks grinding out the secret menu.

I have a small batch of NES lightgun revolvers for sale on my website. It took me a while to source the acrylic lens I needed to really tighten the precision of this gun. The lens of course didn't come with any data sheet so I had to figure out the focal point on my own. =)

The saddest part of this to me, as someone who has done the hacking side for these kinds of projects and has also spent time honestly trying to learn up on Japanese for J-E translation, is that the hacking side can sometimes be almost trivial, especially if you don't do any extra work to it.

There's a trend building for 'functional completion' releases as they're now being termed to just be thrown out there as a rough draft with the usual calls for human translators to refine it. But those functional completionists still want their names on the games - a race for first. (2/3

The hard parts are things you don't hear about from the people who work on this stuff. The legends in the scene who solve for esoteric compression schemes, write scripts to move tons of custom pointers around in assembly, write tools to generate custom disc images, not to mention the translation.

There are so many brilliant minds out there that have put out a ton of info on how to do this kind of thing, all a part of a great community that you can be a part of, even in a small way. The wrong way is to turn your back on all that and act like it doesn't exist.

There is generally nothing worth celebrating over a very basic text insertion (no font adjustments, no image asset changes), which AI and existing tools probably helped extensively on. This is something honestly ANYONE could do themselves today with one quick look at a wiki.

In my hype for the upcoming Star Fox on Switch 2, I became curious if the original could possibly have had better quality audio like the other remakes. Turns out: yes! After 5 days or so, I mixed and edited higher quality sound for in-game playback, and you can experience it on a real N64!

Hey man, live your life, I'll just say that there's a lot of ways to play Neo Geo. If you want that old school vibe, with DB15s and clean RGB and stereo, you can get a Neo Geo CD for a song with an SD Loader. Samurai Shodown RPG is awesome, and you should play it.

This is a great article and a general outline of the gameplan for the current US administration. Use some half-authority to put someone (falsely) in power whose main goal is to cause chaos and prevent progress under false pretenses, and then no one can enforce kicking him out.

Bill Essayli, Trump's man in L.A., talks a lot about fraud. Something he doesn't talk about: his family's federal fraud case, and how he defended it against the office he now runs. Our reporter Matt Hamilton uncovered the case and went deep on a major Trump player. lamaterial.com/p/bill-essay...

Custom NES lightgun with rotating cylinder and hammer action. My aim is off because I'm holding the camera and trying to keep everything in view, but a decent demonstration of the function.

Many companies, corporations, etc. want you to live in fear that you desperately need them and can't live without them. Fear is how they control you. Just delete the app, bro. You don't need it. Get something else, go somewhere else, fuck 'em. You don't need them. They desperately need you.

In Putty's Party for the WonderSwan, there was a hidden 7 Hyper Item that you could unlock by using the WonderGate peripheral to dial out once a day and get a 1 in 7 chance to obtain it. Most believed this was the only way to get it, but there is actually a way to get it in-game without the add-on.

i was going through my X archives and found this by @superpodsaga.com, which I qrt'd at some point years ago so, let me bring the question back: what is the most useless piece of video game knowledge you know?

After beating a boss and exiting, the game randomly gives you one of the core 5 Hyper Items based an a timer it increments each frame, but there is a 1 in 255 chance it will give you the Devil's Tear instead. The timer is linear, so it's possible (with great effort) you could manually trigger this!

All-in-all, I'd recommend it if you're looking for a modern replacement of the original Neo Geo arcade stick, or don't have something with the classic MVS stick layout. So many games take this button layout into account, and it makes playing them much more enjoyable.

The button / stick layout and placement feels really solid. It's easy to fit in your lap, the weight is nice, and if you want it on a table, the feet held it in place, so it's great in both situations. In general, I also like the acoustics of it.

The Seimitsu LS-56 comes with a square gate, which isn't great to me when it comes to the sometimes demanding precision of these older fighting games, but they do make an octagonal restrictor gate, and it was easy to install in the LS-4, which is very accessible, while still keeping that clean look.

If Nintendo were to have done a vinyl of anything, it should have been for this. They could do one for the original music and another for the remix (and a deluxe set with both).

The Sound Selection album that came with the BotW Collector's edition was one of the main reasons I got it. This has all the music you'd want from the $40 vinyl set, plus, you can digitize it.

At CEO 2025, Justin Wong entered CvS2 with a Ratio 4 C-Sagat. He went all the way to Grand Finals Reset but couldn't quite beat Bas in the end. Ratio 4 play is kind of a meme in CvS2. But what's the actual math? This pic represents what Bas was basically facing at the start of each game.🧵 1/14

The Switch 2 seems to hate DFS channels for some reason (in the US, this would be channels 52 through 144). Most modern routers will set your 5GHz band to one of these. Usually not an issue for even 15 year old radios to connect to those channels, and even Switch 1 connects fine. Needs to be fixed.

I've been messing with CFC2, and EO "Standard" mode in CvS2 appears to incorporate the system changes like how they were in the Original Xbox version, as opposed to the full set of changes that were in the GameCube version. In short, this means core system changes, but no move adjustments.

You don't have to be Justin Wong or Alex Jebailey to appreciate the updates in Capcom vs SNK 2 PRO! I retranslated the win quotes, endings, rival dialogs, character endings, and move lists. I tried to keep it in line with the era, while uncensoring things, and retaining that SNK flair.

What if... when Capcom made all those updates and bug fixes to Capcom vs SNK 2 EO, they actually implemented Roll Canceling as a feature? That alternate timeline is here. I give you: Capcom vs SNK 2 PRO

Roll canceling this gives you invincibility, it just cost Guard meter like the other defensive mechanics. In exchange for this, I've also slightly extended the window to execute it, making it easier, and letting you do stuff like below:

CvS2 PRO has all the bug fixes and character buffs you'd expect, plus a few extras fixes / bonuses: -Player 2 can't steal the corner anymore -Left corner keeps in juggled opponents -Text updated across the board -Progressive Mode -and more! Get it here: romhackplaza.org/romhacks/cap...
