Turns out you can get laser cut sheet metal ~10x cheaper by pretending it's a solder paste stencil and ordering from @jlcpcb.bsky.social. Suck it, SendCutSend!
This is @lasermistress.bsky.social's design, I just wanted to see if JLC would complain. So if you want these, maybe bug her about it.
I found these 64 channel HV analog switches that don't need HV in, but turns out they can't pass DC because they harvest power from the signal to charge a floating gate for the MOSFETs. It's such a wild circuit I had to make it in Falstad to get it on a vibez level. falstad.com/s.php?s=uLEHuT
There's also a similar thing called a Body Snatcher that "snatches" the most negative voltage from the input and uses it to power the MOSFET body. The difference here is it's doing it in real time instead of charging a floating gate capacitor. www.falstad.com/s.php?s=KdqHJf
I don't want the card edge bit sticking out too much for aesthetic reasons, so I'm resin printing the boards and putting chalky marker on them to figure out the absolute bare minimum length that will still grab the board and make contact. I welcome the roast by @cursed-connectors.bsky.social
Of all the questions I completely blanked on, the only one I actually regret is my favorite fictional robot. I could've had an existential crisis choosing between Daneel, Bender, and the sentient coin-op door lock from the beginning of Ubik.

I missed my monthly "don't buy a resin printer" meeting with @jumperless.org because I was hand-soldering a 3×2mm WS2811 IC to a flex PCB. If you want a Neopixel with colors other than RGB, turns out you can just make your own by having a long enough manic episode.
@settinger.net missed his monthly appointment to tell me not to buy a resin printer so I did. These things friggin' rule (for the kinds of things I tend to make) But I also see why the washing and curing stuff is such a big deal, my tupperware full of vodka and 3 UV flashlights aren't gonna cut it.

not a microcontroller in sight. just chips living in the moment. youtu.be/Hph5X5c54fs
This is just copper pads hooked up directly to gpio, and PIO state machines reading tiny changes in capacitance... without any "real" analog circuitry. (Credit to Matthias Wendel, I stole his pico-femtofarad code and made it into a 3D gesture sensing thing.) github.com/Matthias-Wan...
If you preordered one of these, I should have them out todayish. Turns out they're easier to install than I thought, but I'll have a link to the instructions on the product page before they get to you. shop.jumperless.org/products/ala...
Btw if you preordered one of these, they'll be going out soon. It took an extra week because I'm dumb and made that pogo pin hole with 0.002 mm of clearance. shop.jumperless.org/products/ala...
I'm sorry I'm 20 minutes late to show you this very important information: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qO6...
