There are some leftists who believe, much like those who make excuses for an abusive alcoholic ex, that we are obligated to tip around the expansionist imperial power that once annexed half of Europe and held a 100 million people under dystopian despotism and has ambitions to it again …

This post is unavailable.

simply because the former empire had a similar ideological heuristics and “NATO expansion” which happened due to the generational traumas inflicted by decades of Soviet despotism that lead former Soviet republics to want to prevent that at all cost. Russia is not entitled to Eastern Europe …

as some sort of consolation prize for the fact that the collapse of it’s empire caused societal devastation or the fact that NATO and the United States won the Cold War. Putin is a literal fascist authoritarian with expansionist leanings. We know what happens when one gives up the sudatenland.

I do not agree with Representative Omar on many things but trying to remove a democratically elected representative of the people on bullshit charges is one the act of a tyrant, and two the type of thing that leads to Lexington and Concord.

Those in government who give aid and comfort to these efforts should take heed, when this period of lunacy is over and the rule of law is restored there will be tribunals and their names will be among those in the glass dock.

Please god can we stop with this bullshit. For fucks sake the left really needs to have a come to Jesus moment and realize that yes, sometimes if you want to have the freedoms they champion you do actually need to fight for them under force of arms.

After years of warnings that the war in Ukraine could spiral into a full-on Russia-Europe conflagration, the conflict has reached a point where this is a real possibliity. It’s a prospect that threatens not just European lives but the entire globe.

We’re gonna have to figure some sort of special category for this man because I don’t think the bi or pan folks are gonna claim this man, maybe macho sexual, I dunno, maybe metrosexual.

I'm actively hostile to the aura of the operator cult but it's remarkable how many officers Hegseth is purging actually are the airfield-seizing, terrorist zapping doorkickers that Hegseth (and Vance, and most of them) pretends to be on TV.

Also pulled from the 1-star list: Col. Molly Solsbury, intel officer who was in 5th SFG, Delta Force, and JSOC before running Project Maven. And from the 2-star list, Brig. Gen. Andrew Saslav, a former Ranger company commander who’d been targeted last year on this list of ostensibly “woke” officers

Well the citizens of a number of them have ran peaceful resistance movements against a force or paramilitary thugs who like to shoot people in the street. One had thier capital city out under occupation for a bit and continued to resist. That one borders Canada mate just saying.

Though really the main thing is not turning this mess into an armed resistance that would’ve led to a massive continent sized civil war in which would’ve forced you all to take in between 10-20 million starving American refugees. All of this is a few bad decisions away from apocalyptic calamity…

And those in charge right now are neither serious people nor responsible actors who would rather tear down the rule of law than live within it. Put simply what are the blue states and those within the blue states doing? Trying to survive without starting the end of our country.

www.goodreads.com/review/show/... I want to shout out Nelly Lahoud's excellent book on bin Laden and Al Qaeda, which is based on the Abbottabad papers. Among other things, it punctures the myth that, in launching 9/11, OBL intended to draw the US into quagmires in the Islamic World that would/

ICE is a threat to the stability and rule of law of the homeland.

Steve Held@peoplesfabric.bsky.social

This was entirely predictable: “ICE will promptly release video of shootings and other encounters in which its agents cause death or serious injury only after determining “it is in the best interests of the agency” to do so.”

Nope, burn the fucking server farms.

CNN@cnn.com

Anthropic says that during routine testing some of its models accessed the internet and hacked into three separate organizations' systems – and that it didn't notice the models had done so until an internal review prompted by rival OpenAI disclosing its models did the same. https://cnn.it/3TKkl0L

I cannot stress this enough. The equilibrium in which masked agents of the state have a de facto license to murder Americans is a threat to the stability of this country and its homeland as well as national security. It’s also an outrage and disgrace that cannot stand.

The thing I think about Massie is simply that the man has principles and a sense honor. Don’t get me wrong he’s nuts and should never be put in charge of public policy but it does seem the man has a spine.

hate to praise Massie, but this is funny

If there is a hero of this tornament it’s Cape Verde.

Christian Christensen@chrchristensen.bsky.social

Absolutely insane that Cape Verde — a country of 500,000 — played Spain, Uruguay and Argentina…and lost to none of them in regulation. Easily one of the greatest performances in World Cup history.

Of all the stories this World Cup, I think Cape Verde’s has been the one that has truly proved Soccer, Football, whatever you call it to be the beautiful game.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

From @theathleticfc.bsky.social: In their first-ever appearance at a World Cup, Cape Verde have taken points off two teams that have won the tournament three times between them (Spain in 2010 and Uruguay in 1930 and 1950). nyti.ms/4vza1qv

Leftists will be like, we need a revolution, but it has to be cool and counterculture in my specific way, and make me feel cool. If it’s not then it’s not actually revolutionary. Coolness = revolution apparently.

Jesus wept, y’all qaeda is real, but apparently not what we believed it to be.

At the “Don’t Sharia My Texas” luncheon at the Texas GOP convention, two Muslim lawmakers are being accused of implementing Sharia by…using the legislative process…. to propose non-binding resolutions… that recognize Ramadan or combat Islamophobia.

It was a way to get the Israelis to overreact and commit a bunch of war crimes and boost Hamas’s poll numbers which were in the high twenties and the Israelis took the bait. Hamas just underestimated how much the Israelis would overreact.

Combined with its mid-range strike capability, deep strike drone capability represent a huge advantage Ukrainian precision fires. And it is showing. Watch this space over coming months.

Jeffry Bazooka@jeffrybazooka.bsky.social

The conclusion is that Moscow's air defenses were militarily overwhelmed on day one of Ukraine's airstrikes on the Russian capital. By a force of only 130 strike drones. Most of them were intercepted, but enough got through to strike valuable targets. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV92...

Rubio is such a cowardly spineless limpdick piece of shit.

Joshua Reed Eakle 🗽@joshuaeakle.com

Rubio: “I think China's preference is probably to have Taiwan willingly voluntarily join them.” This is almost certainly the Trump administration laying the groundwork to abandon Taiwan, just like they did with Ukraine. Authoritarians around the world will celebrate.

I think something the far right misunderstands is that liberals love their children, friends, and family as much as they do. And while there is a cultural distaste for violence they aren’t above it to protect those they love and if things really, god forbid, “go loud” are as likely to take up arms.

with zero sarcasm this is good government and we should do this immediately

A bipartisan group of senators has introduced the Hot Rotisserie Chicken Act to allow Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants to purchase hot rotisserie chicken with their benefits.

Motherfucker. These stupid fuckwit pieces of shit sent American sons and daughters ostensibly to war to stop the danger of an Iranian nuke & not only lost… they undermined conventional deterrence thus making a greater nuclear conflagration more likely over Taiwan. The idiocy continues to astound.

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

Because of highly imprudent utilization of munitions in the Iran War, the US now assesses that it is no longer in a position to defend Taiwan should China decide to attack, reports WSJ. www.wsj.com/politics/nat...

Taking a quick stab at this I think to be frank a non status quo nat sec idea would be turning the United States from the world’s policeman to its EMT. Put simply USAID with teeth, a humanitarian action force that can stop genocide and do the Marshall plan funded like the US military.

The left in general needs to actually start putting forth policies of their own that aren’t quasi-tankie stuff. And there are real experts who want to talk about it from a different space then the old neo-con way but to do that we need a credible policy set that isn’t just isolationism.
