I was fortunate enough to participate in a public panel discussion with some of my SCALE colleagues at the Wild Center in Tupper Lake. You can find an article and the recording from the event here! #NYlakes #SCALEny nylakes.org www.adirondackexplorer.org/environment/...

I’m a scientist who studies how climate change impacts our lives and the places we love. Most of us are worried, but many feel stuck on what to do. If that's the way you feel, check out this list below! We can’t fix it alone, but I know we can together. 💚

You can’t understand how the ocean is changing without observing it. Long-term data from OOI and Argo floats inform scientific discoveries and help fishers understand where and when to find their next catch. 👉Get the full picture of this critical research from @wbur.org : go.whoi.edu/bur-ooi

NSF has reduced the research budget for all atmospheric, ocean, and earth sciences by ~80%. 80%! A lot of us will not be conducting new research or training new students for the foreseeable future.

New job alert: Come join my research group and work on the beautiful Lake George! We are hiring a laboratory technician based at our field station, the Darrin Freshwater Institute (DFWI), in Bolton Landing, NY. Please see the job description and how to apply in the photos below. Please share!

Not sure if everyone appreciates the difference. Rooftop solar hardwires into your main panel via a dedicated breaker, so it requires a permit, an installer, an electrician, and a utility agreement. Balcony solar just plugs into a wall outlet, sharing an existing circuit with no permits or rewiring.

“Setting up your immaculate Nazi study while one of the kids sleeps on the floor of the garden shed” is both incredibly sad and incredibly on the nose satire of this form of politics:

This is a fascinating discovery. For the first time, a study has shown that older mice given a transplant of gut microbiomes from younger animals boost their brain plasticity. This means their brains are better able to adapt to changes. 🧪 #health #microbiomes www.newscientist.com/article/2531...

Well, It’s not about a paper—just something I’ve poured my heart into. 😌 👉The Edge of Progress is a documentary comic about five monumental feats of engineering. These feats didn’t just rise—they broke the limits of what was thought possible. Written for a general audience.

The massive CHPE project started to send renewable power into New York City yesterday. ABOUT 20% OF THE ENTIRE NEW YORK CITY ELECTRIC GRID WENT CLEAN!!! Yet I don’t believe I saw a single news item about it. The clean energy world is really bad at telling its gee whiz awesome story. Kinda wild.

Reluctant to post too much about this but I did want to share my favourite finding from the dozens of manipulated or duplicated ThermoFisher verification blots. This one has a giant square. Enjoy!
