Solidarity with children requires listening to them—really listening. Pushing them out of spaces or refusing to speak to them outside of settings you dictate as acceptable places for them to exist is not solidarity. You must abandon the comfort of adultist control.

Fuck the law. Some of the worst atrocities in history have happened fully within the bounds of the law. Some laws explicitly and effectively prescribe suffering and abuse en masse. Laws do not dictate what is correct. Legalism is an awful system of ethics to live by.

was listening to noah gervais talk about red dead redemption 2 again after having played it and I think a lot of what they say about the game simulating lingering in an unsustainable dream really hits on what I like about open world games in general

this long gone world full of paved over biodiversity teeming with now endangered and extinct species can last as long as you want it to in this digital memory, they will all respawn no matter how much you hunt them,

but eventually you have to turn the game off and remember that you are in the world that killed that. you cannot get that world back. you just have this secondhand memory. for as long as the disk lasts

and red dead redemption 2 really toys with that wonderfully, the inevitability of the story, the foregone conclusion that you are here to see what happens next or else you'd stop playing. you are here to see the van der Linde gang's undoing. you are a teensy little bit complicit

the gang can stay happy at horseshoe overlook or clemens point theoretically forever. Arthur Morgan can stay sick with tuberculosis as long as you would like. but eventually you have to push on and watch him reckon with how he lives the last days of his life. an infinite living pause

open world games have a lot of weaknesses but the thing they're really good at is portraying an illusion of flexibly limitless time. you can wait as long as you want before touching the mission marker, in theory. a time lapse, a freeze frame, an everlasting dream of the future never needing to come

took some time to listen to (a segment of) this. thank you for reviewing and enjoying The Angel Factory! I did not think it was going to get nearly an hour of airtime but it was a very interesting hour ish hearing two uninvolved people pick apart our game and its themes

you, dear listener, have been patient. waiting two weeks and then a little more for our most considered and careful takes. we only made it through 10 games, but we'll be back next week with ten more so don't worry too much. moonarchive.art/ep-144

yeah we’re all freak perverts but if you don’t respect others boundaries if you don’t ask for consent when it’s needed you don’t belong here

i want to be loved. i want to tell the full truth and be believed, and forgiven, and loved. i need to be hugged for a few hours until i feel like a normal human being again. instead i'll probably just play another video game

I think Sadie Adler is a cool character but also I feel like she's just sort of, Rockstar realized they needed to write a woman who was a character, and they *did*, but they also leaned into a bit of a Gender Thing with her that I think about

she was symbolically robbed of her womanhood because her husband being murdered meant she could no longer be a Traditional Woman, and thus becomes one of The Men, by participating in the violence that is traditionally the domain of Men i don't know if i'd say it's bad. it's just Very Gender

I hate that she just decided that I was evil, without asking me, without opening a dialogue, without trying to understand. I hate that if everyone else knew, most would do exactly the same. I hate that people like me are excluded from queer identification when all the facts point to us being queer.

I've seen people argue that those who care about and push for youth liberation "don't care about the elderly", a claim that attempts to undermine the idea that we intend to combat ageism by suggesting we only care about the young, implying ulterior motives for our interest in youths' rights.

i think it is never okay to leak someone's age publicly against their will, no exceptions

me: i'm gonna write the most devious and transgressive sex scene ever. the scene: "imagine happy loving intimacy where neither party is dissociated."

i want to die. i wish that I wasn't being so willfully and grievously misinterpreted. it's my fault for checking her account to see if she was vagueposting shit about me I guess but still just,

to see someone say that all my ideology boils down to is that I would rather make the world worse so that I can hurt people instead of improving myself. why. you have no idea what I think. you have no idea *how much* I think of other people. you don't know ANYTHING about me. how dare you

at least i know where you stand. at least I know that you will backstab me given the chance. at least I know that about at least one person in this world. almost everyone else is just a wild fucking guess

i don't think of children as objects, i don't think of women as objects, i don't think of lesbians as objects, i don't think of other trans people, or nonwhite people, as objects. i am a woman, and a lesbian, I used to be a child, i still feel like a teenager, and I'm not white

i am talking about the right to self determination, the right to choose freely who you love and live with (if anyone) and to make your own decisions in life I am not just saying "well maybe if everyone is free people will do what I want to do" I wanted liberation then and I still want it now

I do not want people under my thumb or at my whim. I do not want to force anyone to lead the life I want, to have the sex that I want, or to make what I want. that isn't free for either of us. that comes at a cost to both our souls freedom that comes at the expense of others is no freedom at all

i don't think of children as objects, i don't think of women as objects, i don't think of lesbians as objects, i don't think of other trans people, or nonwhite people, as objects. i am a woman, and a lesbian, I used to be a child, i still feel like a teenager, and I'm not white

when I talk about youthlib and about what I think children should be allowed to do and to have, I am generally talking about what I wish I had been free to access as a minor, and by extension what I wish my friends were free to access both as minors and as adults

i was awake for too long. i got to the epilogue of RDR2 (not finished with it yet, not seen how it ends) I have come to the conclusion that RDR2's main Thing, story-wise, is backfilling all of the character development that the first game didn't do

i have several feelings about this that i will probably elaborate on whenever i write a review (which will probably just be a backloggd post but could be longer)

arthur: "dutch, i ain't so sure this domestic terrorism is such a bright idea. we seem to be getting chased by all the anti terrorism guys" dutch: "NONSENSE! you QUESTION my PLAN?? where is your LOYALTY! we'll get out of town but FIRST we MUST do MORE DOMESTIC TERRORISM" arthur: "oh boy,"

morality systems in video games aren't an inherently stupid idea but there are some games that they suit better than others

it's kind of nice that Red Dead Redemption 2 gives more of a shit about its morality system than RDR1 did, and actually leads to different story outcomes and stuff, but I don't think that the big open world shootery bang game is really the best fit for a morality system in the first place

in Dishonored the Chaos system works because playing stealthily and not killing people actually gets you something different and interesting. not so much in RDR2 because being "good" means stealing less stuff and killing less people in a game that is still about stealing stuff and killing people

i hate scrolling through bluesky replies and seeing someone say "it's so fascinating how all the fascists are attracted to Eastern women" about Trump supporting umamusume fans. have you considered that maybe you are just racist

why was I doing this, looking at this? I don't know. but it's annoyed me now. why are so many supposed leftists just suddenly racist when it comes to talking about anime/JP culture. who knows. sigh
