Oh, the networks might've found the most effective leverage any human has weaponized against Trump to date.

LMFAO -- Trump is holding an event at the White House right now but there's no audio because the press pool isn't there. The Newsmax host notes that this is an example of Trump's attacks on the press "backfiring just a little bit"

Obama: “Imagine if I had done any of this... Imagine I pulled Fox News' credentials from the WH press corps.” I never want to hear MAGA talk about “tyranny” again. Their GOP has given up the mantle of limited government, free speech, the Constitution. They are the tyranny.

Today, I went to the grocery store and purchased $20 worth of vegetables. I now have a $20 trade deficit with the grocery store. They clearly ripped me off. I will now cut off all trade with the grocery store and let my family starve in order to Make My Household Great Again.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "If we lose $50 billion a year with a country, and we say 'we're not going to trade with you anymore,' we don't lose $50 billion a year. It's very simple. Right?"

In normal times, a sitting president turning a memorial for nearly 3,000 dead Americans into an opportunity to aggrandize and lie about himself would be a national scandal, met with widespread disgust. Sadly, we are not in normal times.

Trump claims he was basically lifted out of the rubble on 9/11: "Two fireman, big strong guys, they grabbed me under the arms -- 'got to get our of here!' -- and they literally lifted me up, and they started running with me."

It's wild how fast a MAGA guy turns into a resist lib the moment the leopards get around to eating his face. I've long thought the core distinction between liberalism and right-wing postliberalism comes down to empathy. /1

That's why resist libs get so aggressive in the face of injustice. They don't treat injustice against an outgroup as someone else's problem. They feel it as injustice against themselves. It's a shame the MAGA brain can only manage it once the teeth are already digging in. /3

This is a statement from the most successful chairman in the history of the Libertarian Party. He's the chair who oversaw Gary Johnson and Jo Jorgensen receiving enough votes to tip the elections in 2016 and 2020. People across the country — and across parties — are waking up. H/t @sarwark.org

Ossoff: “Never let them forget. They hunted the Vice President to kill him.” Every day, we must remember the people leading us hate the Constitution. In modern history, no administration has been more hostile to our founding ideals than the one currently in the White House.

Trump, 2024: "Tariffs will lower prices." Trump, 2026: "I'm removing my tariffs to lower prices." Next time you're at the grocery store, remember that every economist on the planet warned you in 2024 that this is exactly where it would end up.

I have to give it to Darline. “MAGA is more concerned with what a half dozen trans athletes are doing than the most important geopolitical flashpoint of our time” is actually a pretty honest reflection of the base.

Real liberalism has been tried. First it created the Constitution. Then it abolished slavery. Then it ended segregation. Then it created the greatest surge of prosperity in history. Our problems today are not because liberalism failed. They are because we failed liberalism.

Darline Graham (Lindsey Graham's sister) was asked tonight about her position on Taiwan and the South China sea. Her reply: “National security is not my thing, not my area of expertise... but I support the military.” MAGA continues to set the bar *high* for the U.S. Senate.

Never underestimate the power of ideas. A single idea can topple entrenched power structures, redefine our relationship to authority, and bend the trajectory of history. Established despots and strongmen fear them for a reason.

Hasan Piker (who refused to vote for Kamala Harris) is calling for punishment against Democrats who don't back El-Sayed. He said Democrats should be punished for “factionalism” and forced to “follow the party line.” “If there's one Marxist doctrine the Democratic Party should deploy, it's that.”

Hard endorsement of every word here. Illiberalism is a weakness. Cruelty is weakness. Embracing illiberalism is the ultimate act of debasement and self-humiliation.

"The kind of society that we want to have where we respect each other and we have respect for ourselves does not permit us to just embrace lies for the sake of some guy." — @jamellebouie.net Listen to the full episode: hubs.la/Q04rRZHN0

This meme took me back. Having grown up evangelical (in a creationist homeschool community, reading the Bible cover to cover every year) I think I can offer some insight here. /1

The result is a posture that elevates chaos instead of resisting it, retreats into isolation when things get hard, and sometimes even welcomes what damages society... because it reads as prophecy fulfilled rather than a problem we need to solve. /4

That same conspiracist wiring makes them susceptible to nearly identical prophetic claims from MAGA (see QAnon: Trump will emerge on some given day with hidden truth and unstoppable power to destroy the deep state... it almost mirrors Revelation 1:1). /5

The MAGA mindset draws heavily on decades of evangelical culture. The worldview I grew up with was apocalyptic to its core. For them, the world is always about to end. Chaos and collapse aren't threats to that belief, they're confirmation of it. Enter Trump. /2

This mindset also trains people to treat earthly life as a waiting room. They're "spiritually saving up" for the next world, which (intentionally or not) deprioritizes fixing this one. /3

Ana Kasparian just said Republicans were right about Fauci all along. “When the pandemic began, I had too much trust in our institutions. I've now switched to zero trust.” /1

This is the same approach that fueled COVID mismanagement and thousands of preventable deaths... and that today is fueling the most unprecedented effort in modern history to dismantle, delegitimize, and destroy every component of our democratic system. /3

The most egregious act of corruption yet. If you can afford to pay $100k/mo, you can get early access to Trump's posts before anyone else does, allowing you to front-run market moves and profit millions, while the plebs play in the sandbox. People must go to prison for this.

Trump spent years whining that the DOJ was "weaponized" against him (a former president who claimed to be a victim). Now the DOJ actually is being weaponized against regular Americans. In this case, a former Olympian was targeted to satisfy Trump's narcissistic impulses. apnews.com/article/refl...

apnews.comJustice Department moves to drop case against ex-Olympian charged with damaging Reflecting PoolThe Justice Department has moved to dismiss a criminal case charging a former Olympian with deliberately damaging the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

We are living through the most flagrantly corrupt administration in 250 years of American history. Every single day, he steals millions from us and from our children. He's turned the machinery of government into a personal enrichment scheme. Where is the outrage?

Putin is so scared of Ukrainian drones he cancelled Russia's Navy Day parade, again. He's now forced to stand in an empty lot in front of a printed photo of a submarine. The world's "second-strongest military" can't put its own ships in open water on its own holiday. Hilarious.

The White House is posting AI slop videos depicting immigrants as monsters. Dehumanization is always the first move of authoritarians. It never stops with one group. The circle widens until everyone except the most devoted (& debased) lose their humanity, their rights, and their freedom.

JD Vance is the final boss of MAGA. Trump was and remains incredibly dangerous and destructive. But JD is a self-described postliberal. In his own words, he's wholly embraced a movement that openly rejects the Constitution, individual liberty, and checks on executive power. /1

He believes in centrally planning the economy, culture, and—quite literally—wants to be the dictator that rules over you. While it's important to fight back against the Trump administration, it's critical to understand that the fight against Vance will be the most important one. /3

JD Vance is the final boss of MAGA. Trump was and remains incredibly dangerous and destructive. But JD is a self-described postliberal. In his own words, he's wholly embraced a movement that openly rejects the Constitution, individual liberty, and checks on executive power. /1

Its manifesto, which Vance personally endorsed, calls for the "overthrow" of the current order and its replacement with rule by a self-appointed elite enforcing their vision of the "common good." /2

For the people who don't track these things closely, when JD Vance says he's “postliberal” in this context it doesn't mean “post-Democrat,” it means “post-Constitution.”

This is both a signal to the public and to the ICE agents. To the American people, he's saying he will protect the masked, armed men — even if they kill you, your child, your neighbor, or your friend. To the masked thugs, he's saying: you're good to kill more.

This is so strange. Vance is making an argument for state intervention to control the economy — yet he won't say wealth concentrates at "the top." Instead, he hedges with "some segment." Then he adds the obligatory line about stopping communism, just to reassure you he's still right wing. /1

He's arguing in favor of communism while framing it as fighting communism. JD is basically Elizabeth Warren, if she simultaneously hated immigrants and was too afraid to say what she actually believes. /2
