The correct legal approach to this seems to be that when platforms start favouring some content over other, they don‘t deserve immunity for third party content on the basis that they are just platforms. They should become liable. finance.yahoo.com/media-advert...

I wonder how quickly we’ll get back to the zero lower bound if “tech firm CDS spreads” stays on the FT front page.

NEW: Unemployment has fallen by 48,000 over the last 3 months, and is 26,000 lower than a year ago. On the wider measure including underemployment, there are now 5.1 million seeking (more) work, up by around 80,000 in the last year. There are 7.25 people seeking work for every vacancy.

Beginning to think that John Healey is a lucky chancellor. AI is boosting investment and so growth while the stock market jitters over AI is lowering gilt yields. #budget26

Calls to remove profiteering from children’s social care are growing. But if we’re serious about tackling profiteering, we need to ask: when a council pays for a child’s care, where does the money go? Children’s care should be about children, not profit.

themj.co.ukCracking down on profiteeringFollowing our focus on sector concerns at national efforts to curb the use of unregistered children’s care placements in last week’s edition, this week The MJ examines the challenge of removing profiteering from the care service. Paul Marinko reports.

Morgan Stanley says it’s shorting the pound ahead of the Budget • sees £8b of headroom now • thinks Healey will go for £15b • sees small delay to fiscal consolidation • mild downside risk to gilts • not much change to cash req this year but a bit higher in future years

This seems like a good move. Lowering expectations ahead of the budget is good tactics. Allow time for the effect of recent rises in nhs (etc) spending to take effect. Wait for a spending review and don’t feed the narrative of crisis.

I absolutely know who needs to hear this, though I won’t name names. Progressive orgs need to stop pretending that “AGI” and “x-risk” are ideas to take seriously. No one is building a computer god that could go rogue and turn us into paper clips.

What is x divided by zero? It is not, as Micheal Gove said on C4 news, “infinity”.🤦‍♂️ x times infinity is infinity x times zero is zero so infinity times zero is zero, infinity or x. Which it’s why mathematics says x divided by zero is “undefined”.
