My latest: "Carriers that began the year lining up lift to meet booming travel demand are now monitoring cash reserves as rising jet fuel outpaces revenue growth."

Hi Jon, my girlfriend loves your website and flagged it for me. Given all The Air Current’s work in residential and commercial heating and cooling, I thought we should talk.

Last month, United became the largest recipient of Boeing 787s, passing launch customer ANA. Notable for a lot of reasons, but the milestone came 25 years to the month after 9/11, which left U.S. airlines financially unable to take the lead on an all-new Boeing widebody. (United launched 767 & 777)

Alaska Airlines to commence 2 new routes: • Seattle (SEA) to Osaka (KIX) 4 weekly from May 14 • Seattle (SEA) to Papeete (PPT) 3 weekly from June 11 Operated with Hawaiian A330.

I’m enjoying this new part of the internet when I get stopped by Cloudflare and I’m asked to prove I’m a human and I’m just stuck in an endless loop of pressing a checkbox.

Roughly 65% of flights by the top 50 airlines between Asia, Australasia and Europe transit a tiny slice of airspace over Azerbaijan, according to @flightradar24.com data. That spikes to nearly 90% when excluding Chinese & Indian airlines with access to Russian airspace.

Historically those who have tried to design flying cars typically have succeeded in designing both a crappy aircraft and a crappy car all in one go.

If you are a freelancer you need to know what happened to me and be ready for it. Two years after being sued, four years after the article was published, I am owed over $200,000 by the Plaintiff & have gotten nothing. How to you keep reporting after this? colleenmondor.substack.com/p/58-i-am-th...

Come for the mesmerizing graphic, stay for the discussion of the territorial disputes and spoofing squeezing a critical sliver of sky over Azerbaijan.

Maybe we don’t let the WSJ be the arbiter of culture. You like midcentury? Rock on. You like shag carpet? Do your thing. Don’t take style advice from a newspaper that would put commodity prices on the front page if an asteroid hit the earth.

Midcentury Modern design has met the fate of pumpkin spice lattes, cocktails in Mason jars, no-show socks, leggings and other aspects of millennial culture: It has become cringey. 🔗 on.wsj.com/4y09K0g

Absolutely banger of a story from @elanhead.com and one with potentially major consequences for the whole space industry as the launch tempo increases. No paywall as with all our safety reporting.

All set up here for Alaska Air Group media day. The airline has announced its next salvo in the premium travel fight, queueing up big new lounges and cabins for the A330, 787 and a lie-flat transcon product on its eventually-incoming 737 Max 10s.
