There's a long history to the Anchorage-Tokyo route from when ANC was a key fuel stop on transpacific routes. Airlines from Northwest to Air France, British Airways and SAS used ANC as a stop.

And have to agree with @airlineflyer.net on the agent, no traveler wants to have to play find-an-agent when they need help at the gate.

"Lufthansa and Fraport Inaugurate the 'Gate of the Future' at Frankfurt Airport" They're replaced efficient LCDs with a giant power hungr heat producing LED wall that doesn't actually provide additional info, and gotten rid of the gate agent counter so you'll never find them now. Thanks, I hate it.

This week marks the anniversary of 2 airport milestones, both from October 1980. Our rail station opened, making it the first intercity rail station in the US to serve an airport. Our IATA code became BWI to match our airport name, after 30 years of carrying the code BAL.

JetBlue management is working hard to counter the narrative that it needs a restructuring. CEO Joanna Geraghty and CFO Ursula Hurley emphasize that the airline has the liquidity necessary to get the airline to 2028.

"I think there’s a significant disconnect between the narrative in the bond markets” and JetBlue's financial performance and available liquidity, CEO Geraghty says during the airline's Q3 earnings call Tursday.

Supply chain is the gating factor for JetBlue's BlueFirst installations, says @martysg.com. The airline expects the majority of its fleet to have the new domestic first class product by end-2027 but installations will continue into 2028.

"City planners worked to set each distinct project 'as a jewel' within Washington’s boundaries, helping give the capital its unique character. A towering arch sited between the Lincoln Memorial and military cemetery does not fit that vision." @jgbollard.bsky.social #washingtondc

Why did flyers love the A340-600? It's four-engines ("4 engines 4 long haul"), tremendous length and downstairs lavs were all factors. It was also "an aircraft with a powerful look." Whatever the reason, Lufthansa said auf wiedersehen last week. www.cnn.com/travel/airbu... #avgeek

Lufthansa Group commercial chief Dieter Vranckx said Thursday that growing in South America is of "strategic" importance to the group. This is, in part, behind Lufthansa's acquisitions of TAP Air Portugal and ITA Airways.

Pittsburgh Airport's first airside outdoor terrace is OPEN! While there aren't tarmac or plane views, the OJB Studios-designed space looks like a welcome breath of fresh air for travelers waiting for their flight.

I've been in D.C. for 25 years and have never once heard a resident or visitor refer to East Potomac Park as "Trash Island." I don't know that it even has a trash problem! That being said, this is where the East Wing was dumped after it was demolished...

The issue with EES? Cough*SOFTWARE*cough

Edward Russell@byerussell.com

After a 4 day residency at Munich Airport, I can tell you this: airports are just as frustrated with the rollout of EES as everyone else. And, like when security tightened after 9/11, it takes time to reconfigure arrivals halls for the new, slower process. byerussell.substack.com/p/four-days-...

Next time you ask why airlines keep adding new transatlantic flights, even with foreign visitor numbers to the US down, remember this: the number of Americans traveling to Europe is up 22% — yes, twenty-two — compared to 2019. lnkd.in/p/eH64UGrb
