Hi new followers! I'm a #TTRPG designer/writer. I created/wrote: - Those Dark Places and Pressure from Osprey Games - Rapture Protocol for the ALIEN RPG Evolved Edition - Adv. Fighting Fantasy adventures - Content for TinyD6, Warlock! and Vs Darkmaster - A Battletech short story - Farsight Games

An overlooked starship in the Dead Space game is the USM Valor, a vessel sent to the USG Ishimura for reasons I won't share in case it ruins the story for some. It's a great design and I'd love to see Commander Cadigan's viewpoint of the whole situation, and the fate of the crew.

Yes, I called the new ALIEN RPG cinematic 'Operation Leading Edge' as a homage to publishers of the original ALIENS RPG, Leading Edge Games. It suits the nature of the adventure and works as a fond throwback; even though the game system wasn't great it was my only source of ALIENS info at the time.

Sad, sad news. Walter Koenig has passed away.

George Takei@georgetakei.bsky.social

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Two of my favourite movies have wonderful final shots of ships sailing away, 'Excalibur' and 'The 13th Warrior'. They're incredibly evocative and really fire the imagination. What's your favourite final shot from a movie, something that has stayed with you long after the film ended?

I used to have a load of the Games Workshop Dungeon Floor Plans boxsets. I loved those things, they were always handy. I don't know why I'm thinking of them now. I guess I just miss them, out of nostalgia.

I'm going to buy some dark blue baseball-style trucker caps and put some sci-fi sew-on patches on them. I've got a Nostromo patch, of course, and the ship I designed for the ALIEN RPG the USCSS Fidanza, but I've also got a cool Dead Space USG Ishimura patch that would look great on a cap.

Dead Space is also a franchise I think could be huge outside of its computer game roots. When it came out in 2008 there were comics, books, animated movies, motion comics, they really went for it and it worked really well. The story and design is crying out for an adaptation to other mediums.

Dead Space 2008 Vs Dead Space Remake 2023. I hit Dead Space pretty much as soon as it came out in 2008 because it was what I wanted in both a scifi horror setup and a game. Until ALIEN Isolation came along in 2014 (I'm an even bigger ALIEN '79 fan, of course) Dead Space 2008 could not be beaten.

When the remake was announced I was excited but also hesitant about changes - some adjustments to NPCs, Isaac talking that kind of thing - but after completing the remake again, this time in story mode so that I could appreciate the experience a bit more and soak in the design and atmosphere...

... I do think the Remake is the better game. The story feels a little tighter, Isaac having a voice actually adds to the quality and it's overall a much better experience as a game. While the 2008 version will always be one of my favourite experiences, I think the Remake is better for the changes.

This is excellent work from a great small publisher in support of a fantastic TTRPG. And there's more to come! Red Ruin Publishing have made the first three issues of the Dragon Warriors zine, Casket of Fays, available print on demand, with the promise of all nineteen issues to come.

My first 5 TTRPGs, in the order I played them: 1. Dungeons & Dragons (red box edition). 2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness. 3. Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game (West End Games). 4. Call of Cthulhu. 5. Vampire: The Masquerade (1st edition).

My Game of Thrones rewatch begins today. This will be the fourth time, and will be my second most rewatched show after Robin of Sherwood and Star Trek Deep Space Nine. Or is it the fifth time? Oh shit. It doesn't matter I fucking love it.

You are a colonist on board the starship HMSS Virgil, pulled from Ultralight speed by a massive gravity well. Few have survived and the ship’s caretaker crew are mostly dead. Their last garbled message said, ‘They’re not meteorites… there’s something in our blood!’ It's Pay What You Want, so free!

I thought I'd be able to go out and be even semi-normal today but something is grinding in my lower back and right now I'm sat in my car with the heated seats on worried about the journey home and if I'll even make it. Cheer me up with your happy TTRPG news, something you made or are excited about.

You should back this. I've got an article in it. Those two sentences may or may not be connected.

I've just spent my day in my home city of Lichfield. It's always a pleasure to go back to see what's going on and always a thrill to visit my favourite building in the world, Lichfield Cathedral. The Cathedral is an astounding place you should visit if you ever get the chance.

The unsung heroes of the TTRPG hobby; the humble dining table. This table has seen all kinds of RPG adventures - Traveller, Fighting Fantasy, Those Dark Places, WFRP, D&D - and has been solid and true. It's now being taken away so thank you, regular dining table, for all your support.

Character creation session for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. I've been a bit loose with it all and allowed them to take all of their initial Advances so that they're a little more accomplished. The first game is on Thursday and I have an adventure ready (it's a secret playtest, to be honest).

I can't find my notes and bible of my ideas for an ALIEN Isolation 10-part TV show. I'm getting annoyed. It covered Amanda and her hunt for her mum, the Anesidora, the politics and issues on the Sevastopol and the rivalry between WY and Seegson. I'm already on a downer today. This'll break me.

My biggest nerd breakdown was caused by the Warhammer Fantasy story arc 'The End Times'. I was so incensed with the choice to destroy a world I'd poured my heart into for 25+ years was so annoying I sold every one of the books. They didn't need to blow up one of my favourite fantasy worlds...

... just so they could focus on their new shiny game. Because I had a moment of fan entitlement I actually missed out on Age of Sigmar, which turned out to be a really good game, but I'll never forgive them for destroying The Old World the way they did. It's good to see a return to the original.

This has come as a shock but it seems I'm running a very sudden short face-to-face campaign of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay first edition in the next couple of days. Well, shit, I'd best design something for my favourite grimdark fantasy #TTRPG, then.

That means I'm digging out THE FOLDER and dusting it off. This has been around since I started ruinning WFRP in 1994, the campaign lasted about 5 years all told. I also created a character sheet for i; I wasn't hot on the one in the rulebook but Hogshead Publishing provided a great one later.
