The University of Alberta’s free online critical thinking and science literacy course to help people differentiate science from pseudoscience:

Just an FYI - RFK Jr invited public input on changing vaccine categories and recommendations, and right now the vast majority of comments *support* his approach.

This book details shows how MAHA activists have used science denialism to worsen health outcomes.
It also traces the history and harm of the anti-vaccine movement and describes its modern incarnations and propaganda tactics.
Highly recommended and hard to put down. 😊✌️
Social media has worsened our collective science literacy skills.
For example, there are urine therapy groups on Facebook.
Similar alternative medicine groups provide a sense of community, but at the cost of promoting pseudoscientific beliefs that compromise health.
The ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY: "No, no, no, no...the average pin is capable of holding no more than 875 fairies, assuming that they aren't sitting on each other's shoulders."

Fateema Sayani notes that
"Stea demystifies the concept of
science overall,
noting that it’s
***something to regard as a tool***
or process
and not something to believe in."
I really liked this book, too.
Another I really enjoyed was Mind the Science by another Jonathan, @jonathanstea.bsky.socialen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_th...
50% done with this.
Even if you think you know everything about vaccines you should read it.
It does an amazing job of telling the history of vaccines from day 1 and how antivaxx nonsense in 2026 is no different from 200 years ago.
I’m learning a ton.
Self promotion alert!
My book A Pox on Fools, comes out on 5/26 (UK) & 6/9 (US).
It's a history of vax opposition, tracing RFK Jr.'s anti-vax grift back to once-somewhat plausible fears. Its goal: to help readers debunk his BS for any persuadables they know.
Preorders are a book's best friend!
I once asked Daniel Kahneman (Nobel Prize recipient) to be involved in a book I was co-editing.
Though qualified, he so very kindly declined, citing his lack of expertise.
When I contrast his humility with the daily death of expertise on social media, I die a little inside.
For promoting evidence-based patient care, I receive countless hateful messages daily.
I receive death threats.
I’ve dealt with frivolous complaints.
I’ve been called the "face of evil."
I’m lied about and constantly harassed.
I’m also not alone.😊✌️

There’s something hilariously absurd about social media that leads some people to deceive themselves into believing that their brains have suddenly downloaded the expertise that is painstakingly acquired over countless years of training/experience in a highly specialized domain.
