Why do I love horror? Read about it here. Thank you, Becky, for inviting me to share my thoughts.

I had the honor of sharing "Why I Love Horror" on @raforall.bsky.social's blog today. Becky Spratford champions the horror genre in America's libraries. She is a force of nature and a great friend. Thank you, Becky! Also, spilled a little news 😉

‘COYOTE VS. ACME’ has now officially surpassed the $30M amount Warner Bros. originally planned to write the film off for. The film is now projected to earn over $60M domestically.

To all those going to AuthorCon in March 2027, I decided to make a return there but the hotel is sold out. Anyone have recs for quiet (aka no Busch Garden families) and affordable alternatives? Preferably without bugs and/or people that will eat me.

Hey, guess who's got two thumbs and is opening to submissions on Aug 24? It's THIS MAG. Actually, I guess the magazine doesn't have any thumbs, but I—JJA—do, and I'm eager to get them all over dem horror stories after 6 years out of the editorial chair. I guess it will mostly be my other fingers.

Finally, some updates. All copyedits for SUFFERING THE OTHER have been rolled in, and we have a new ARC. A few last tweaks and some proofreading, then it will be ready for publication. I plan to open up pre-orders this week, with shipping in late September.

I wrote this while deployed and missing my family. My son began asking questions about magic, like Christmas elves. It got me thinking about the lies we tell our children... Combine that with the end of the world and...
