Paco is in for a head CT and possibly Rhinoplasty if they find a mass they can remove from his nasal passage. Kinda hope they find something and can remove it (even if only temporarily) so he can breathe a bit easier for however long he has left. #dogsky

Send good vibes his way. He's at the hospital now, CT is around 130-2p His cardiologist signed off on anesthesia so should be fine but still worried about our 17 year old goober. #dogsky

It was disappointing that @60minutes.bsky.social, with all its resources and expertise, broke zero new ground on the Tina Peters story. The report was just a repetition of what local journalists reported long ago.

Stunning Lula victory in Brazil is another sign of how easily we all let ourselves get psy-op-ed by the right's expressions of confidence into, you know, believing them. We really have to get over that habit!

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Hey, so, it actually took a lot of people doing a lot of unpaid work for Jon Del Arroz to be properly marginalized from the SFF community, and now he’s back, and in one of the more widely read genre fan columns around. So I just have one question: @file770.bsky.social, what the actual hell?

I’m not going to link to the site because lol no, but hey I spent a fucking weekend doing unpaid security work because this chud decided to bring a Nazi protest to Worldcon years ago, walking past fuckers chanting blood and soil and threatening me and my friends so what the hell do I know.

Last day of MileHiCon. Yesterday was great. Sold lots of books and had a blast on two panels. One more panel today then sell sell sell trying to clear out some garage inventory. #writerslife #denver

Part of being an author is putting yourself out there. MileHiCon is my event for that. If you’re around #denver this weekend. Grab a day ticket and pop in. Say hi to authors, artists and other creatives and so many fans of genre stuff in general!

MileHiCon starts today! Excited to see everyone! One of my favorite events of the year. It's always awesome to meet readers and other authors and creatives! If you're in the #Denver area and like SF/F and want to nerd out. Take a look at the line up and pop in! milehicon.org #Sciencefiction #SF

MileHiCon is this weekend. Super stoked to have a table in Author Alley. It's my favorite event of the year. I usually do well selling and I see folks year over year and we talk about books. Hard to not like that! 1/2 milehicon.org

I'll be on a few panels too! Pantsing Vs. Plotting World Naming AI as Fictional Character If you're in the Denver Metro area, you should 100% pop in. Support this great event and literary (and other) creators. 2/2

LOL Snort. He's not wrong. Add to that the ocean is always trying to throw us back onto land. We ain't supposed to be there.

Man, listening to NPR talk to Georgia voters and I'm like, "Stupid people are everywhere" Life is hard, things suck, but Trump is a genius so I'm voting for him. He just understands everything. I know they're everywhere but the concentrations are just astounding. #USPOL

I really hate how few journalists do "Remember: always be truthful, not neutral."

Shout-out to a shitty panellist at a con in 2019 who was absolutely shocked at an audience of writers who all wanted to self publish, and said "but without gatekeepers, how will anyone know if a book is good?!" lol. lmao.

AK Faulkner@ravenswordpress.com

Trad does a lot of marketing to tell you that they choose "good" books and that, therefore, smaller presses or self published books are "bad". The fact is that they are businesses, and they choose books they think will sell. The mistake is conflating marketable with best.

I wonder if Stargate Universe would’ve gotten better reception if Rush hadn’t been such an extremely unlikeable twat from the jump. He got less annoying, but shoulda started that way. #stargate

Just passed the half-way mark on this Field Notes notebook. I’ve been gathering these for so many years, I don’t recall where this one came from. Maybe a Cards Against Humanity thing? Not sure.

Listening to boomers bitch about how expensive their homes are to keep up, sayin they need MORE social security. I'm fuming. You're 87 don't need a 4 bdr home w/ a massive lawn. Downsize you greedy twats. Draining the system you constantly vote to fuck over.

"I have to go to the nazi bar to talk about AI" should really make you think twice about who makes AI and what it's for.

I really hate this current batch of tree vermin (squirrels) that have found the back yard. They keep digging up the garlic I just planted, which they don't like, but seem to want to confirm that with every clove I planted. Peppermint soaked cotton balls all over and they just move around them.

Oh Apple... 2-3x a day my phone rings with spam calls for mortgages and loans I never requested. Rings and shows me the live voicemail thing. This still happens even when marking every. single. call as spam. A call I was expecting. Straight to silent voicemail abyss. Phone never made a peep. #apple

How to defeat tech billionaire power? Look at Solano County. When billionaires invaded their community with plans to build a "tech utopia," Democrats AND Republicans banded together to fight back. In a triumph of local democracy, they stopped the project...for now. 🎁 www.wsj.com/us-news/sili...

Successfully (I think) blew out the sprinklers. This little guy did it but it was a struggle. Took about 5x longer than when my old sprinkler guy did it. Granted his compressor rode on a trailer he towed with an F150. #homeownership

OOf. Bought two types of garlic to plant and god damn so many cloves! A good problem to have but I coulda done with half as many cloves of each type. We gonna have so much garlic next year!

On my free time I think I’ll try and do a small Titan comic. Since I can’t get any official @StarTrek comic gigs I figured I would try my own fan comic that I’m calling Riker’s Gambit. For now it will just be sketch layouts between my paid client work. So bear with me. Here is p1 #startrektitan
