I've been spending most of my political time and energy the past year doing local organizing, talking to elected officials, and supporting fighters in the primaries. Now it's 100 days to the general midterm election; time to place some bets! Come join me!

Don’t look back on this moment and wish you had done more. Don’t just like this post. Sign up for ONE phonebanking shift before Election Day. Elections are often decided by a few hundred votes, so the conversations we have over the next seven days can make all the difference. Let’s get to work.

This is not very far removed from “catch and kill”. “What do you mean? We covered the story!” …the story about rape …without mentioning the word rape …or making the allegations clear to readers.

I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

NEWS --> Dems are planning novel ways to wield power of the purse against Trump's corrupt prosecutions of critics like Ilhan Omar if they win House. Reps Pramila Jayapal and Jamie Raskin tell me a range of aggressive tactics will be deployed. Details in my new piece: newrepublic.com/article/2171...

newrepublic.comTrump’s Vile Prosecution of Ilhan Omar Is About to Run Into a WallIf they retake the House, Democrats will have plenty of ways to act against Trump’s corrupt prosecutions. Pramila Jayapal and Jamie Raskin say they’re going to use them.

If they are doing this based on name matching, it is of course bullshit.

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

This is a solid point.

13. We deserve to know what they are with sustained coverage in granular detail, but there is nary a peep from the press corps. The AP is willing to repeat word-for-word that Melania Trump negotiated "a localized ceasefire," but not report why Donald Trump is bleating like a sheep.

👇 This. IF we can win — AND push margins past the “laugh test” for election deniers — it will also be instantly and unspinably clear that Trump Is A Loser, and stop a bunch of bad stuff in its tracks, including violence. The effective, nonviolent mass protest everybody has been looking for: Vote.

escapedexplorer.bsky.social@escapedexplorer.bsky.social

The sheer psychic damage of losing Texas and other states by clear margins might just do to large amounts of the party faithful what it seemingly did to Dem leadership after Nov 2024: stunned acceptance and aimless disorganization Running up the numbers is an exercise in preventing violence tbh!

“The White House had 30 days upon signing to either implement the measures outlined in the law or waive them. The only requirement for the waiver was a certification to Congress that the decision was in U.S. national interests. The White House has not clarified why the move was in U.S. interests.”
