It's election day in BC. And it's stupid and awful and I get if you have the urge to not vote. But you should still vote. At the very least because in BC, parties get funding based on their vote percentage. If you truly hate all of the parties, write in whatever you want or spoil your ballot.

Because FPTP encourages politicians to focus on battleground areas rather than trying to make life better for people all over the province to get the maximum number of votes everywhere. Because it's a profoundly stupid system.

It would be grand, then, if the Government of Canada would terminate any use of X/Twitter. And don't say, "Oh, we need it to get our messages out," because then you are "caught in a situation where we are reliant on one provider."

If we didn't have FPTP, BC would pretty much never have to worry about a conservative majority. It would be unlikely to ever happen. But the BC NDP knows that fear of the right is pretty much the only thing that can get them majorities, so they keep FPTP. Truly a disgusting and selfish party.

Liberals and Conservatives are rushing to pass Bill C-39 with little time to hear from Canadians and pass amendments. The bill gives cabinet ministers the power to declare entire regions of the country in which major projects can ignore virtually every environmental protection.

The BC Conservatives, an absolute mess of a party full of racists and nuts, might get a commanding majority with 44% of the vote. This will be entirely on the BC NDP and Eby. Entirely. It'll be their fault for not getting rid of FPTP, and for calling an unnecessary election out of pure selfishness.

The only reason FPTP still exists federally in Canada and provincially in BC is the destructive, endless selfishness of centrists. They'd rather periodically hand over the government to insane conservatives than give up their own chances at majorities. I can't even fathom being that selfish.
