This “affordability” framework for a second reconciliation bill (i.e. a “Second Big Beautiful Bill”) follows the same structure as its predecessor: 1.)Making it harder for Americans to afford health care, food & groceries. 2.)Tax cuts for rich people. 🧵

Jacob Bogage@jacobbogage.bsky.social

🐘📈 Republicans in the House have started about a second party-line reconciliation package. In other words: A "One Big Beautiful Bill 2.0." The Republican Study Committee put out its framework for a bill. Here is everything in it, and how much it costs or saves on th3e federal budget:

My son's special interests are airline disasters, forensic science, and the phrase "fun fact." I can assure that, while his facts may be factual, they are almost never my idea of fun.

Strength training is political. We have a right-wing which has taken over physical fitness spaces, and hijacked “warrior culture”. We need a muscular progressivist visions. We need to be strong to build the world we want. Building my guns for the revolution. 💪🏾✊🏾 #Swoletariat #ResistanceTraining”

My son only caught parts of this episode, which I listened to while making dinner. Nevertheless, he made a detailed and persuasive case that Dale Carnegie was autistic. NB: My son is autistic.

Episode 45: How To Win Friends And Influence People 89 years ago, Dale Carnegie taught Americans how to live like Leo Tolstoy, give speeches like John Rockefeller and neg like Calvin Coolidge.

Hegseth fires general officers and JAGs, cracks down on dissenting views in military, orders killing civilians at sea without legal rationale, calls generals to Quantico to demand loyalty. Trump deploys troops to U.S. cities. "What are Trump and Hegseth up to? It's a mystery!"

"The envy of all women."

Watters: What is it like being married to Stephen Miller? Miller: He's an incredibly inspiring man who gets me going in the morning with his speeches being like let's start the day, I'm going to defeat the left and we are going to win.

My mom worked for the CENSUS Bureau. One of her long-term projects was a study about what people eat for the Department of Agriculture. I learned a lot from hearing my mom talk about that work.

The Administration acknowledged that it will stop the survey that measures food insecurity, just as tariffs push up food prices and the deep cuts to food assistance enacted in July start to take effect. Congress must intervene to save these vital data. www.wsj.com/economy/trum...

It’s not possible to make good policy without good data. I know that the Trump administration wants to punish poor people, but this makes it more difficult for anyone to help poor people.

Do not be bullied, cowed, or shamed by bad-faith right-wing actors and MAGA that are blaming "liberals" and everyone who isn't MAGA for Charlie Kirk. Call them out for their hypocrisy. Go on offense. They are fine with political violence and mass shootings when it's against the rest of us.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s austere, well-cut, all-black drip really brings out the Hobby Lobby in the Oval Office.

Josh Marshall@joshtpm.bsky.social

Like you I've seen all the pics people post here abt the steady increase of tacky gold crap he keeps adding to the oval office. But somehow it wasn't until I saw this picture that it just hit me. What the actual fuck. Like a Vegas whorehouse.

100% No race should go uncontested. Even if a Dem has no chance of winning, people need to see Dems running. Republicans should have to fight for the ein and liberals and progressives need to know that they are not alone. Over the long haul, it makes a real difference and drives change.

Jess Piper@piperformissouri.bsky.social

Listen, you can’t break the Trump cult, but they are the minority. We need a sustained presence of Democrats in rural spaces to talk to their neighbors and run for office. Seats go uncontested for decades. Hate gerrymandering? Get Democrats on every ballot and every race. We have to run to win.
