Soon to be ex-Tory voter unsure who to vote for on 1st of May? Here's why I harp on about education. Civic studies should join critical thinking our kids now start at 8. Reform tax cuts = no public services @libdems.org.uk For a Fair Deal and efficient working public services.

Rachel Coldicutt@rachelcoldicutt.bsky.social

Writing up notes from a public engagement event I worked on, and it is *interesting* how few people were confident about: (a) what a public service is (b) who it is for (c) how it is paid for Some thought a supermarket or an airline might be a public service because they are publicly available

Good to see the long lasting poisoning impacts of manufacturing faced today. We know now how they can be and why they must be prevented in new industries, for a better tomorrow.

I adapted. I did. Air raid alert. Drone threat in Kyiv. I’m having a warcoffee and choosing a book of the week. It’s a beautiful bookstore that opened recently.

Service personnel can spend years in single living accommodation. Julie Smith, Defence spokesperson, has won a change to the Armed Forces Bill that sets a military homes standard at least equal to the decent homes standard.

Say No To Putin. Here 22 bi-partisan Congress members put Trump on the spot to reverse the decision on Russian diesel, but subtly, to sanction many more people by the date of the new law is 18th of October. Trump has Putin's misuse of pressure Trump put on Zelensky to act. @libdems.org.uk

Anonymous@youranoncentral.bsky.social

22 US lawmakers are demanding Trump fully enforce Russia sanctions by October 18, targeting Russian banks, oligarchs, energy buyers and the shadow fleet. They also demand he revoke a license permitting Russian diesel transactions. The letter does not specify consequences if Trump refuses.

Things are not normal in Kyiv. A European city under bombardment from Putin's Russia. Who the f does Putin think he is to ignore any country's border and attack the people living there? Why are 30,000 plus Russians every month prepared to be injured or die for such an outrage? Say no to Putin.

Kyiv. Late evening. I was choosing the art I wanted to show you from the art fair. And suddenly, explosions shook the air. Missiles. Art a bit later, I think.

Putin's bombs are killing Ukrainian civilians, and Donald Trump is funding them by buying Russian diesel. The UK must stand up and call this what it is: another Trump betrayal of the Ukrainian people and European security.

jedmarson.bsky.social reposted

Putin targeting civilians saying Kyiv doesn't deserve respite, while announcing hundreds of billions of roubles for offense military spending - money he wouldn't have had until Trump seemed to bale him out, to sell America Iranian diesel, for Trump to win midterms. It's a Distopian nightmare.

Yaroslava@strategywoman.bsky.social

It was perhaps one of the loudest explosions I’ve heard nearby in a long time. And now I’m reading that a drone hit a residential building. Close or not, I just hope everyone is alive. Yes, it’s Kyiv.

I welcome the Prime Minister’s admission that the Brexit deal is a disaster for our economy, but the real test is: will he drop Labour's red lines that stop us fixing it? Today he says no – so we have more work to do!

jedmarson.bsky.social reposted

Wow. Donald Trump is giving money to Putin’s war machine so he can keep killing innocent Ukrainians and attacking democracies across Europe. The UK must lead a coalition of the willing that stands up and says no.

...and counting. The numbers should shame #Putin into leaving all #Ukraine. Why isn't he? Are Russian military officers too frightened to admit they're destroying Russian everything? Not just youth. Everything. @LibDems. Don't just love and respect us. Join us. Www.libdems.org.uk/join-local

When I visited the Nova music festival site, the impact of October 7th hit home. Three years on, the violence continues, and we have seen an appalling rise in antisemitism here and around the world. We must stand with the Jewish community, stamp out antisemitism, and work for a lasting peace.

jedmarson.bsky.social reposted

I would go even further and say that it leaves us all feeling less safe. I was horrified to read what went on at the Green conference. We need to support all communities which have survived or are surviving genocide, but not at the expense of the rights of other communities or diasporas.

Luke Taylor MP@luketaylorld.bsky.social

The motion passed at Green Party Conf' actively undermines a 2-state solution, and does not address the rising threats of Islamophobia and Antisemitism here in the UK. This is a divisive motion that pours fuel on the fire of tensions in the UK, and will leave many British Jews feeling less safe.

We need real action from the Prime Minister on Europe, not more hesitation. The Liberal Democrats have a plan to strengthen our economy, cut living costs, and boost defence by rejoining the Single Market, Customs Union, and working with European partners on security. These issues cannot wait.

F-off Putin, Russia and Russians deserve better than you. What a shame and a shambles. We all know this means many many Ukrainians too and the lives of their families and loved ones changed forever. Endless war must stop or be stopped by a greater effort to impose a no-fly-zone over Ukraine

Russia has now lost 1,510,000 soldiers over 4.5 years in Ukraine. Ukraine intercepted or disabled nearly 2,000 drones in 24 hours. Is there any other nation on Earth capable of repelling such drone swarms? It could be catastrophic when Russia attacks a NATO member.

Miles away from Farage’s stunt in Clacton, Liberal Democrats are beating Labour in Devon and Reform in Yorkshire. Stunning victories for hard working liberals - who turned up to their counts!

This is no minor detail. It's a key safeguard in a worl where we're resource poor, changing systems with too few staff to meet demand. Mistakes will happen, must be monitored, remedied at speed, to stop them embedding in cover-up. Perfect's not possible but best effort in good faith. We need that.

Healthwatch is a lifeline for patients and families, helping prevent another NHS safety scandal. Labour’s Health Bill takes an axe to vital protections. Andy Burnham has backed Healthwatch before. He must do so again, fix the Bill and put patient safety first. @helenmorganlibdem.bsky.social

This is a stark warning: the climate emergency is here, yet the Government moves at a snail’s pace. It's time for a national strategy: funding cool hubs for vulnerable groups, mandating cooling and ventilation in new homes, supporting drought-affected farmers and heat-proofing NHS facilities.

This is the moment for Andy Burnham's new government to replace the water regulator as our Water Authority. That's what the Emergency needs to mandate water companies to stop leaks and sewage, support farmers with engineering muscle for water storage in ponds, lakes and reservoirs and EA in nature.

An MP, since 1623, is not permitted to resign. The only mechanism is to accept a position, an “office of profit under the Crown”, the Chiltern Hundreds or the Manor of Northstead, in the Prime Minister's gift. Will the Liberal Democrats press the PM to refuse this option?

30 people in one night. Ordinary Ukrainians in homes blown apart. Putin must be handed to the International Criminal Court by ordinary Russians to end this. He's not fit to be 'disappeared' nor sent to a gulag. Too easy. Our way is face justice in fair courts. Where are you Russia?

Helen Morgan MP@helenmorganlibdem.bsky.social

Wes said it himself - we need actions and not just words. Yet 18 months later there's still no data. It's just not good enough - I'm not sure 'shortly' really cuts it anymore. We need the data, and a plan to end the national disgrace of corridor care.
