🌍 11,000+ signatures, one message: Andy Burnham, it’s time to Secure Our Future. We're calling for him to: 🌐 Deliver the UK’s climate and nature commitments 🌿 Pass the Nature + National Security Bill 🔥 No new oil and gas licenses 💚 Join our campaign: zerohour.uk/join youtu.be/GC4e4SHapPQ

💷 The Autumn Budget is coming, and it must put climate and nature first. Here’s what leading experts have been calling for since the last one 👇

🚨 The UK’s spy chiefs have warned that nature loss is a national security threat. Parliament debated it but the Govt still hasn’t said how it'll respond. 🌿 We need this assessment turned into an emergency plan for action, now. 👉 Email your MP and demand the Govt take it seriously: zerohour.uk/nsa

🤦‍♂️ Labour has approved the Jackdaw gas field The polluters, with approval of the Government, are cashing in on climate chaos, driving your bills up/ ❌ Jackdaw WILL NOT help energy security ❌ Jackdaw WILL NOT protect jobs ❌ Jackdaw WILL NOT reduce your bills 🔗 www.zerohour.uk/rosebank

🌿 It’s time to stop ‘cash to trash’ housebuilding. 🏡 @chrishinchliff.bsky.social urges environment watchdog to block rules that will allow almost 16,000 new homes in one of the UK’s most protected areas – without addressing pollution. 📰 Read more www.theguardian.com/environment/...

🚨 People are worried. A deadly summer. Super El Niño. We're unprepared. So when the Govt announced they will be updating their emergency planning, communities felt a sign of relief. But as @georgemonbiot.bsky.social has laid bare, this isn't a proper response. It's kicking the can down the road.

❌ 💧 If our rivers aren’t fit for the future, neither are we. Climate change is making things worse. ✊ We must urgently restore rivers. Find out why, and how, in the @theriverstrust.bsky.social’s new #StateOfOurRivers report. Head to 👉 theriverstrust.org/state-of-our-rivers

🤦‍♂️ "Complacent." That's the verdict on the government's approach to food security. 🥕We've joined 150 organisations and experts urging the UK to prepare for future food shocks and treat food security as the national security risk it is. 🔗 www.theguardian.com/business/202...

🛢️ 100,000 North Sea jobs lost. Rosebank would create ~650, not even 1 month's worth of losses over 15 years. ❌ As Zero Hour's Campaign Manager Allan Gray explains, it's a plaster fix on a wound. 👉 Write to your MP and urge them to #StopRosebank: zerohour.uk/rosebank

🔴 We heard the Government is going to take action at Labour Conference 2026. But haven't we heard this before? 🌍 We need more than words. The Government must respond to the climate and nature crisis with the urgency it demands. 🌿 Join us to take action 👉 zerohour.uk

For me, it comes down to this: when compounding crises threaten our water supply, do we want corporations and billionaires in control of it?

📣 @jenny4suffcoast.bsky.social at #TheWildSummit: “30 by 30 is not just a target it’s a national mission. Designation is not enough, it’s about making sure they are successfully protected and managed.” 🌿 Jenny, will you meet with us to discuss how the urgent new #NNSBill would deliver 30by30?

📣 Following last week’s nature loss and national security debate in Parliament, it was clear that MPs, and the public, want the government to release the security services full report. It’s great that @zackpolanski.bsky.social has joined the call and urged them at the #WildSummit. Will they listen?

🌿 Great to hear CNCC Vice-Chair @pippaheylings.bsky.social at The #WildSummit UK today! 📣 “Andy Burnham must convene urgent cross-party talks on our response to the climate-nature crisis. After the summer we’ve just lived through there isn’t any other way than doing it now and together.”

🚢 90% of Rosebank's oil will be exported—it won't lower your bills, it won't secure your energy. ❌ Ex-oil geologist Jo Alexander explains why the "energy security" narrative is a myth, and how renewables are the answer. ✊ Tell Burnham no new oil and gas. 👉 Sign our petition: zerohour.uk/andy

🚨 Yesterday, MPs debated the report on ecosystem loss and national security. However, the Government’s response lacked the urgency needed. That isn’t good enough. 🌿 Want Andy Burnham to deliver the climate and nature action we need, and Secure Our Future? 👉 Sign our petition: zerohour.uk/andy

Our weekly #sit/standforclimate: encouraging conversations, in response to our Q “what do you feel about climate change?”. The shocking floods have clearly touched people’s hearts & minds. Maybe Dolly Parton’s death has also lifted people into caring. @zero-hour.bsky.social @nebriefing.bsky.social

As the impacts of the climate crisis increases, we must build more resilience. But stockpiling is not a silver bullet—it’s a last resort. The Govt should be driving action to restore nature, invest in nature-friendly farming, build community energy, and support a whole-of-govt plan for preparedness.

⚡ After what can only be described as a relentless summer, the @metoffice.gov.uk's warning of an “unprecedented” El Niño must be taken seriously. Andy Burnham needs to get to grips with climate adaptation, quickly and with urgency, to protect communities across the UK for what's ahead.

" #Climate adaptation is a whole-of-government problem, not just for one desk at Defra. Why is there an AI minister around the Cabinet table, but no resilience and adaptation minister? ... And, crucially, why is no one asking these questions in government?" - Dr Amy McDonnell, @zero-hour.bsky.social

Feel like we’re unprepared for the climate and nature crisis? Well, we are. Adaptation is a whole-of-government problem, not just one desk in one department. Read Zero Hour’s Co-CEO Amy McDonnell’s comments in @theguardian.com. 🔗 www.theguardian.com/environment/...
