Hey there! My name is Jed. I live in Fredericton NB and work as a software developer team lead for a startup. I like reading, golfing, riding motorcycles, drinking coffee, hanging with my wife and our dog Chewie. #introduction #newhere #fredericton #software #motorcycles

If someone has told me some of the shit that I now use AI for 6 months ago I maybe could have imagined it but been skeptical. If they told me this 6 years ago I’d have laughed them out of the room….

This summer in Banff, I learned about “The Boss” (Bear 122). Parks Canada has internally discussed lethally removing him due to his age and behavior. He has survived multiple train strikes and likely fathered over 75% of the grizzlies in Banff, Yoho, and Glacier. Long live The Boss!

Building software with AI has been so great for scratching my own itches. Small projects I’ve put off doing for years are getting done in hours or minutes. Lots of colleagues complain or say they morn the craft, I can understand it, but I won’t go back.

In case you didn’t know. My wife and I just did 50 days on the road across Canada. 15,000KM, 200+ hours of driving. From Fredericton to Nanaimo and back. What a great time. A few pictures included.

Been MIA from Bluesky for a long time. Forgot how nice the vibes are here, still gives me old school bird app vibes.

@jacobtomlinson.dev just finished reading your post about writing while walking. Very much enjoyed it and agree in the premise of extrapolation vs interpolation. I honestly don’t think I would have been able to tell you used AI in the ways you did if you hadn’t told us.

I love how fast I can do stuff with AI. Especially writing code. But holy shit am I sick of AI Slop everywhere.

If you’re 5 seasons deep into a tv show I think Netflix can safely assume you like it without asking…

Fixed a feature that’s been somewhat broken for over 2 years today. It took me 5 days to figure it out but I got it and man does it feel good.

I honestly don’t know how I feel this morning…. Thomas King is my favourite author. I have enjoyed everything he has written. His identity being something different than assumed is confusing, the fact he had doubt and traded on it makes me sad. www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/book...

theglobeandmail.comInconvenient Indian author Thomas King says he is not part CherokeeWriter ‘still in shock’ after a whistle-blowing organization showed him genealogical evidence that he wasn’t part Indigenous, as he originally assumed

Was at Costco tonight and saw an LG “AI” tv. What the hell is that gonna do, make up tv shows for me to watch. This shit is out of hand.

In bed before midnight since the Jays aren’t playing. Loving the World Series but these late nights are catching up with me.

This a no-brainer buy for me now. After experiencing the 2025 version daily I can honestly say it’s something that brings me joy every day in my office.

Hill looks like a guy I’d expect to find riding the subway in NYC hunched over asking for drugs…. Not pitching for the Yankees

Dropped my iPhone face down on asphalt today with no case on. Screen protector broke but otherwise it’s fine. Miracles do happen.

🤖 ChatGPT may appreciate your good manners, but OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says it costs “tens of millions of dollars” in computing power when you say please and thank you to the AI model.

I think this is a great way to put it. You need to have the hours behind the wheel in order to understand if the car can drive…..

In syntatically-laden templateable tasks AI can be very useful to generate a starting point. Rapid prototyping. But you need to know what you're doing to go through and fix it... and you only learn that by having done the work the rapid prototype does for you.

CBC costs you less than a night out at the movies. In exchange, our nation gets news and editorials from professional journalists, culturally and regionally diverse programming, and even some world-class entertainment. Nobody likes everything CBC produces and I think that means it's working.

Poilievre's argument for defunding CBC is myopic. The Internet + social media broke the business model that funded professional journalism. We need public funding to ensure a baseline level of independent journalism that isn't driven by rage-farming and clickbait headlines.

This election comes down to one thing. Do you want a guy that successfully ran two central banks through two massive crisis, at the head of a centrist-progressive party or do you want an angry ex paper boy at the head of a MAGA hat wearing cabal.

Spent a lot of time this week working with MCP and rolled a server for me and my team to understand different parts of our product from an LLM chat! Super cool stuff. We’re on the edge of some cool times!
