Another social media, another intro. I’m Jared. I make RPGs, write about motorbike racing and fix servers for a living. You may know me from the other social medias.

I know I’m old and have been in IT too long when I’m explaining what I did for Y2K and they ask “what was that?” And I’m explaining how we later had to fax ILOVEYOU source code from Paris to London because we’d pulled the wires out of the mail servers. “I’ve heard of a fax but have never seen one.”

Motorcycle tyres. Solid bricks with no feeling when I was young. Amazing things with fast warm up and great feedback now. Paired with rider aids like ABS, bikes are so much safer and more enjoyable now

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

You should back this. I've also got an article in it. Those two sentences also may or may not be connected.

Should I be surprised people are being weirdly racist about the French protests? It makes no sense to blame anything on immigrants, asylum seekers or Muslims, but here we go anyway.

And she didn’t even last a Scaramucci.

It looks like ILLEGALLY BLONDE might not even last a Scaramucci, let alone a Lettuce.

Replying to @motomatters.com

The fact that the rocket car is built by the company owned by a Nazi doesn't make it any less cool, because there is no number smaller than negative infinity.

Zacharia: "A lot of the misinformation, miscommunication is around the fact that I labeled myself a lawyer. I consulted for a long time many people in the field -- 'Is it ok if I label myself a lawyer?' -- and they said, 'Absolutely. You can call yourself a lawyer. You have a JD'"

My online girlfriend was so shocked by the Ukraine drone strike on the Russian data centre that she's been too upset to message me all day.

The thing that struck me about The Noise Tube (Al Fagan’s new channel) with @neevesy33.bsky.social is how it really drives home how everyone in moto media (even low-level Noddies like me) kinda lucked into it. Like nobody believes it’s a real option until you realise you’ve been doing it a while.

And, to be honest, it’s the same with RPG publishing. It’s something you can just do (like taking ducks) if you want. The more, the merrier.

And Chris comes in with the links.

I always see this cute little factoid going round and having checked the numbers... it's just not true? Games Workshop's revenue last year was £660m while the UK fishing fleet's was £1.15bn

I remember reading a listicle that said Jerry Seinfeld was the richest actor in a TV comedy. He wasn’t even the richest actor in his own show. 😆

This article is deranged - this is a device designed to solve the issue of the fact that your phone camera is often in your pocket so isn’t sufficiently efficient at harvesting data. Really, really obviously it’s that.

I’m watching LUDWIG on iPlayer and I’ve noticed they’re using a weird lens. The edges are blurred in a way that makes it look like a cheap vintage lens, only very expensively. Check out the right hand side of this shot to see the lens distortion. It’s weird and I can’t unsee it.

Is it some sort of George Miller-esque technique to make us look in the centre of the frame? A nod to Lucy’s use of analogue photography? Is it done in the camera or is it a digital post-production trick?

Do the hacks feeling uneasy not realise they work for The Telegraph?

Michael Savage@michaelsavage.bsky.social

NEW: Reform again accused of leaking the Telegraph a story it had been approached about by another outlet. This “spoiler” tactic is causing concerns among some at the Tel. Insiders say this isn’t fair - reporters didn’t know it was a spoiler. Story: www.theguardian.com/media/2026/s...

Alan Moore revitalised American comics in 1984, two years before he wrote Watchmen. He took over writing Swamp Thing from issue 21 (my copy pictured below) and opened the door for Karen Berger’s British invasion that led to the creation of Vertigo comics.

Steve Morris@stevewmorris.bsky.social

Alan Moore is one of the greatest comedy writers in comic book history. I’ll prove it to you! I’m reading Alan Moore’s Future Shocks today, with art from Ian Gibson, Brendan McCarthy, Dave Gibbons, Bryan Talbot, John Higgins and many many more. Let’s change the false narrative around Moore >>

Every time Alan Moore wrote a minor or secondary DC hero into a story, he completely changed the way you should look at that character, in a good way. Other British writers did this afterwards, including that bloke who wrote Sandman and Grant Morrison, especially in Morrison’s 26-issue Animal Man.

I admit I’m a bit of an Alan Moore fanboy, though. I might be biased. I also worked at Forbidden Planet in the late 80s, so my collection is heavily weighted to that era. Example pictured. But it was Halo Jones in @2000ad.bsky.social that made me into the fan I am today.

Reread 1980s thriller in which the story hinges on keeping rogue agents in check by threatening to trigger a New York Times exposé of their unethical activities & occurs to me that no novelist will ever again be able to use this plot point because no one takes the New York Times seriously any more.

This is my home river. If you turn left out of the front door to my cottage, you’ll pass a field and then you’ll reach this river. It’s the beginning of the River Ayr and you can walk alongside it on a footpath for twenty five miles, all the way to Ayr on the west coast of Scotland.

If you don’t want to just give RNLI money, you should buy a pair of tea towels or a mug with nautical flags on it. Or how about a plastic lifeboat to put on your desk to remind you there’s help if you’re drowning under a tempestuous workload. Go on, you need a new tea towel or two.

Incorrect. The correct protocol is do whatever the fuck you want.

Anon Opin@anonopin.bsky.social

When in a hotel where you need to eat breakfast in a restaurant with other members of your party the protocol is: shower, dress in yesterday's clothes, eat, brush teeth, change to fresh clothes. If you don't need to dine with others you can shower after breakfast.

This is my favourite story today.
