(misinformation from the alternate universe where jim henson was slightly less fond of the letter M) They're called the Ruppets because it's a combination of ragdolls and puppets

So apparently on the set of ‘The Muppet Show’ the cameraman befriended the sound technician and then they started making music together and then they produced “True” for Spandau Ballet

I had a film professor who always took an abundance of caution when he voiced his opinions to ensure all students felt comfortable sharing their own, with one exception. Before screening Persepolis he said, “If you don’t like this movie, I don’t like *you*.” By gosh, was it good.

I would very much like to use a reverse image search engine that doesn't run on AI, but that doesn't seem to be a thing anymore, so now I don't know what to do.

What’s a recent film I can watch at home without missing much from the theatrical experience? (Only looking for serious, grown up movies, not silly comedies or family films this time.)

Today I finished reading 'The Disney Revolt' by Jake S. Friedman. By gosh. If you only read one book on animation history, read this one. It's not just informative - the further in you get, the more it becomes a gripping thriller.

This is truly one of the saddest things I’ve ever had to do. I love this project very much. Many thanks to all who contributed.

I got to chat with @jd11pc.bsky.social about Gertie the Dinosaur on this episode! Gertie is without a doubt one of the most influential short films of all time, animated or otherwise. It was such a pleasure to record this episode, please be sure to give it a listen!

In today's episode, we're going back to the land before time (the silent era) to talk about the beginnings of cartoons!

what if you found out it was actually called Wallace and Grompit and you had been saying it wrong this entire time . would you still go to work or would you call out so you could take some time to process this information

And by framing Jud as a Rick Astley type, the film shows us that Jud is never gonna tell a lie or desert his flock. Don’t go to film school or your brain turns into this.

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up. I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

If you’re a Muppet fan, you’ll want to hear this one. By GOSH did we have fun.

🎄 Today’s podcast is about The Muppets: The Sitcom: The Christmas Episode, which aired 10 years ago today. It’s got badly singing Mindy Kaling, barely singing Echosmith, an ok Secret Santa bit, an awful mistletoe bit, and our very special guests: @tallgirlpetunia.bsky.social & @jd11pc.bsky.social!

Today I spent all afternoon struggling to finish reading a frustrating essay for Stick to Shorts and then spent all evening stewing over it. So much for the rest of the script.

I’m happy to say that I’ve launched ToughPigs’ newest podcast! We needed a more malleable show for fans to have whatever Muppet conversations are on our minds, and now there’s no telling where the team will take this next!

Introducing our new semi-regular podcast TOUGHPIGS HQ! Featuring conversations about Muppet current events. Today, we discuss the Muppet Show revival, Jim Henson's birthday events, and the state of Muppet fandom! www.toughpigs.com/tp-hq-1/

My health is declining so rapidly that I can’t handle most basic tasks and yet I have no symptoms to give the doctors except “I’m super weak and tired and a little dizzy and foggy.” You know, the least specific symptoms. I can’t express how terrifying this is.

The existence of this young woman is one of those few things that gives me long-term hope for the species, but I worry for her so much.

Greta Thunberg has just been released and she is back on the warpath, exactly like our leaders should be. Israel will never silence her or the billions who oppose them.

““They dragged little Greta [Thunberg] by her hair before our eyes, beat her, and forced her to kiss the Israeli flag. They did everything imaginable to her, as a warning to others,” the Turkish activist ErsinÇelik, a participant in the Sumud flotilla, told Anadolu news agency.”+

Update: my doctor says it’s not true vertigo, which makes sense. After several tests, nobody knows what’s wrong with me, but I’m starting to adapt enough to life with mild motion sickness that I can walk, shower, and drive safely.

All weekend I assumed New York was wobbly because of the subways, but it turns out I’ve just had vertigo this whole time.
