To be serious about it, this is a massive sign of a company in financial distress. Whiffing on a new HQ Building, and ending up with a property lot that appears underwater on demolition cost. And a. prelude of what's going to happen with a lot of Big Data Centre developments.

Shoutout to the conductor on the train who gave us a nice listing of all the stupid things that have no doubt already happened on the train today and she is having none of it.

I'd still like to know who exactly are the Beneficial Owners of WIP, and thus who actually owns the Worldcon and Hugo Award Trademarks. But just asking that question makes people intensely angry for some reason.

It indicates someone's character if they decide that questions about "Who actually owns the Worldcon trademarks" and "Are they properly organised and paying taxes correctly" are forbidden and ban worthy. But platform someone who actually sued a Worldcon and harasses writers and fandom members.

I wonder why Tim Sweeney is going completely bursar over people criticising his pivot to AI?

‘Wicker’ stars Alexander Skarsgård as a man made entirely of wicker, complete with a rock-hard wicker dick. But what about splinters? Bacteria? Degradation? Would it be advisable, from a sexual-health perspective, to mount a basket dick? We asked a gynecologist: vulture.visitlink.me/DNQwX5

I am coasting on a migraine, there's a big storm, I had to cancel going to a dentist, I do not want to be an adult today.

Seems like the US just straight up abandoned realistic contingency planning in the early 90s when they declared Cold-War victory and decided the US was the Worlds only Superpower. Then left reaction plans sit without updates, while ignoring war-games that suggested the US might could be challenged.

Man, Hegseth's Department of War is even more buffoonish than everything else. Kinda amazed how the US military didn't just have some basic war plans they could activate. Their lack of preparedness is astonishing. meidasnews.com/news/so-much...

Seriously, every message I get from my friends telling me they went to see Wildwood makes me grin like an idiot! It is so special to me that you are taking your time to support our movie. We worked so hard on it, seeing it finished and being loved by other people is unreal.

Apparently UK folks are making fun of our first official recommendation to have a basic stock of light, water, food in case of a weather or power emergency? They’re only asking for 3 days! Many EU countries recommend 7d + the more you are supplied the more gov help can get to the more vulnerable.

The 26 year old evidence that Tim Sweeney has always been a corporate weasel. And no, he has never developed a complete game himself. He created one tool that let you write very limited video games, and has coasted on other people's work ever since. Of course he sees no problem with Generative AI.

The bad boy of web apps meets the key that shouldn't have been. Is it coincidence, or destiny. Can this fleeting desire be fixed by a patch. Find out in "Feeling Insecure - Probing The Exploit".

What if I wrote a PHP/The Number Four fanfic.

Reminder: Cryptography relies not on randomness, but entropy. A random selection of small numbers still has low entropy because they are inherently predictable and have a smaller possibility space. There are six outcomes from rolling 1d6. The randomness can be very random, but the entropy is limited

(This is because someone just tried to convince me that leading zeros can add entropy because they increase the apparent bit length of the data.)

(And also an apparent belief that it's impossible for a computer to tell the difference between 00004 and 4.)

After consultation with experts it has been determined that this hash was cryptographically insecure as it only had up to eight ingredients. Please update your hash recipes from your vendor.

Attention Scottish voice actors! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎤 We’re gearing up to cast an upcoming project, which will require an (almost) all Scottish cast! So watch this space, if it’s nae bother.

Finally got around to assembling the replacement toilet seat for the bathroom. I specifically got one that said it had brass fittings. Opened the package, it has steel fittings and two brass washers.

I happened to have two brass bolts with the right thread to use instead, which was good because the steel ones were also too short.

I woke up too early, pottered around a little, then went back to bed. Woke up again, spent an hour thinking it was monday.

We already have flying cars. They're called helicopters. They're really expensive and there are good reasons you have to have a pilot license and work with air traffic control to fly them. Putting jets on a sedan is not going to result in a better vehicle or transportation experience in any way.

Today was spent hunting for a secret ferret rescue centre. Let me explain. My son Fred has a tendency to rescue sad, abandoned or unwanted things. His three cats, several London pigeons in various stages of distress, and more recently, a growing collection of Marimo mossballs.

The “fun” part is when your immune system decides that it needs extra energy to do its job and obviously you can’t be trusted to LIE DOWN AND REST unless it MAKES you do that and it will 100% make you do that. It has the means and by god it will use them.

What are the odds that Trump decides he doesn't need a Press Secretary, when he can just make announcements on his Truth Social account.

Maybe Trump will announce he's saving so much money by abolishing the Press Pool. (The Press pay for the Press Pool, no tax payer money is spent on it.)

Tesla, Twitter, Grok, Doge... Won't someone stop this man from murdering once beloved words and names?

John Scalzi@scalzi.com

He's also ruined "grok," using it as he does for an LLM that fundamentally fails, on multiple levels, the entire concept of "grokking." But this is the Billionaire Way, naming shit for things in their favorite books in ways that the original authors would likely look on in horror

By now we've all seen the Tesla with gas jets so it can fall slowly, but maybe this is the prelude to announcing that they've solved the 'getting locked in your burning car' problem with Ejector Seats.

Urgh. Put the old semi-functional AC unit in the shed. Earned five minutes heavy exercise credit.
