From NY Times article on newly-reopened Goya Museum in Spain: If I already had plenty of reason to dislike "immersive" art experiences, looks like for this projected image they inexplicably tweaked the colors in Goya's famed "Third of May" painting. Why..?? Art museums get ever closer to Disneyland

Bought a couple of cordless landline phones on Vinted today purely so I could bring Moira back from the dead

I pretend to be a 93 year old woman called Moira with an entire back story

Vinted algorithm is funny. I searched for a pair of shoes in a partricular size. Now it's showing me lots of similar shoes but in totally different sizes.

Forgotten Island was really really good. Original Dreamworks story about two girls and their friendship and a forgotten island of magic and mystery. Properly funny and dramatic in parts and gorgeous animation. Had a huge amount of fun with it.

A damp Saturday in October is pretty much the best possible time to enjoy a few hours of intensely-concentrated internet - have some brilliant webart, toys, weird shit, longreads and music (and my admittedly terrible writing gluing it all together) - Web Curios! webcurios.co.uk/webcurios-23...

The outpouring of love for the Ghosts film over the last day has been overwhelming. 2k reviews posted on Letterboxd in the first 12 hours and I’ve read most of them!

It's called film "footage" because camera operators initially held the cameras with their feet. That changed after a film shoot in 1931, when an operator got a foot cramp and was forced to hold the camera in his hands. The "footage" he got that day was extraordinary. That man's name? Hans Cameraman.

Heard our youngest’s evening hobby teacher say ‘can you sit still when it’s not your turn.’ Me, after the lesson, ‘They are ADHD AF so they can’t sit still when it’s not their turn.’ Teacher: ‘Yeah, the kids were all a bit like that this lesson.’ Me: ‘No. Quite literally they were not.’

Now, they are young and minimum wage and clearly untrained so I didn’t say a thing because the place is very busy and anything I’d say then and there is counter-productive. But it massively boiled my piss so this is my little decompression rant.

Quite literally clinically, physically, psychologically no. No, they are not all a bit like that today. Maybe some are but not all.

Finally added MSG to my cooking life and HOLY SHIT IT’S THE BEST THING EVER! As an experiment, I made egg fried rice from some rice left over from our massaman curry and it tastes IDENTICAL to the Chinese takeaway. We don’t have a good reliable Chinese takeaway round my way and now I don’t need one.

Recipe: hot wok, vegetable oil, fry/stir two eggs, splash of shaohsing rice wine, splash of sesame oil, 1/4 tsp MSG, 1/4 tsp salt, splash dark soy sauce, ‘portion of’ fried rice. Just stick everything in once the eggs look done and scrambled. It’s all ‘to taste’ but we hit gold first try.

Is it that I don’t get paid to look like this nor have access to hugely expensive fitness trainers and dieticians like he does? Or is it that he doesn’t always look like this and likely hadn’t touched a glass of water for three days before this photo (which was likely photoshopped heavily)?

In case you don’t know why this is such a fascination

The Thing is their favourite movie so they get it. I could see a distant glaze appear in their vision as the pondered the truth of the eldritch horror that is Numberblocks

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

This whole line of enquiry is just ‘curtains for zoosha’ to me

The benefits of Nix are basically complete confidence in your system working at all times. It's great. The downsides of Nix are you have to read and write Nix. It's not great.

Oh-Oh-Spaghettioh!

Properly guffawed when I saw The Titanic and then Chernobyl inside. I really need to recalibrate my understanding of the word ‘Blunder’ away from Chuckle Brother type shenanigans @lizmiles.bsky.social
