The NY Times will publish a hit piece on the Democratic Alaska senate candidate six days before an Election but won't mention a new rape allegation against the President of the United States.

Whenever we hike past the recycling facility Bento is intrigued, probably because it is a world of smells, but today the gate was open. Thankfully he listens and came when I called him.

I am getting so tired of this exchange: Person 1: "This technology is destroying the environment, undermining the fragile mental health of many, and enabling the rise of fascism worldwide." Person 2: "Plato actually says something similar in the Phaedrus."

It is still surprising to me that "students are protesting a genocide" was seen by the pundit class as a bigger crisis for higher education than "someone has invented a machine that means you never have to read or write again."

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

In America you can call everyone from Somalia “low IQ” and imply that every Muslim is a terrorist and the media will just shrug its shoulders, but come after the decor of the Cheesecake Factory and they will come for you.

This is literally the end of the rule of law. If a President can pardon people committing crimes on his behalf - and the Supreme Court says he himself can't be prosecuted for crimes committed as part of his job - then the government becomes a lawless entity able to violate our rights without limit.

One of the basic premises of the Democratic Party in the US is if we could just raise enough money from ordinary working people to counter the billionaires we could win. It is an absurd premise that only results in spam texts and a bloated consultant class.

Sometimes I think that Bento is so dedicated because A) He is a dog and B) I always treat him with kindness but sometimes I think it is C) I am incapable of eating without dropping crumbs everywhere
