I went to Eastern DRC with @drtedros.who.int during the 2019 Ebola outbreak. There were attacks. Health workers died. I called that story The Ebola Wars. The current outbreak will almost certainly be much worse. My heart goes out to millions of Congolese who have been neglected for so long.
Eastern #DRC now faces a catastrophic collision of disease and conflict with the #Ebola outbreak in Ituri province outpacing the response. We urge all warring parties to agree to an immediate ceasefire to contain this outbreak. To allow us safe and sustained access for medical teams.

Exactly how Orban dismantled independent media in Hungary: 1. Crush: harass media outlet with govt regulatory pressure. 2. Buy: Have political ally acquire outlet once it’s distressed. 3. Supplant: fire independent journalists and hire cheerleaders for regime. Steps 1-2-3, or perhaps just C-B-S.
Though of course cleaning out the reporters who might have a problem with doing propaganda allows you to hire some new ones who understand the assignment.
