Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted
We are watching a coup d’état attempt unfold in real time in Brazil. I’m consumed by desperation.

Great news from the Solomon administration, announcing 17 of our worst intersections are getting the full safety upgrade. Pedestrians were killed by vehicles at several of these intersections over the last 2 years, and I'm thrilled the city is taking action. @jerseycitynj.bsky.social bit.ly/4zNkrVo

A $400M plan would add a third lane to 12 miles of the Atlantic City Expressway. Rutgers’ Robert Noland of @vtc.rutgers.edu says “induced demand” means added capacity can draw more drivers, though widening can make sense to move more people. https://bit.ly/4iv6vcs #RutgersVTC

This wasn't even an SBS bus, yet these @MTA.info emoyees quite clearly assaulted this passenger attempting to alight the vehicle. How many millions of bus trips is the MTA going to have to convert to make up for the settlement payout they'll have to pay this guy? gothamist.com/news/brookly...

Surprised to see so many responses here leaning toward or supporting Prop 45 *on the basis that it would make it easier to build housing in urban areas.* AB130 exempted nearly all new infill housing from CEQA last year!! It was a huge deal, and it's working! We don't need 45 to do that!
Fourteen propositions is a lot. So Golden State staff and contributors agreed to share their picks for all 14 statewide measures on the Nov. 3 ballot. Thanks to Robin Epley, Elizabeth Chou, Jon Fleischman, Josh Gohlke, Dan Morain and Elmira Muradkhanyan for contributing!

I’m in disbelief at the entitlement! Hudson County Sheriff Officers are mad about getting parking tickets on their illegally parked personal vehicles since they had to hand in their placards. Pay for a garage like everyone else! hudsoncountyview.com/hudson-count...

Basic problem is that buyers of new cars, the wealthiest car owners, determine the sizes of all the cars on the road. The income gap between new car buyers & the average car owner has grown for 2 reasons: 1) more inequality; 2) cars have longer lives, so new cars are a smaller fraction of the fleet.
Concerning that democrats are pushing "oil should be cheap". Instead of "we've been trying to get you off oil but you don't listen"
$1,749 → $2,297 Heating oil bills are estimated to spike over $500 for New England families this winter. A huge reason why? Trump’s Iran war increased prices for heating oil. End the war. Lower costs.
"The report says Newark’s per-pupil legal costs were 84% higher than the state average, and the district had no procedures to control costs." Theyre spending money on no-bid contracts to build employee gyms and museums! www.nj.com/education/20...
@princetonyimby.bsky.social this is where all the money for kids is going! "spent $566k to construct an employee gym....lacked documentation supporting more than $300k in construction costs, did not obtain school board approval for work and failed to meet competitive-bidding requirements."
