Blog posts we used to have: “how I reduced latency across several hundred machines by 200 ms by removing two O(n)^2 hot paths” Blog posts we have now: “Here’s how to get the most out of /ultrathink in the latest release of Claudex 3.0.5”

unfortunately I was not able to join @rubyconitaly.bsky.social this year, I had everything lined up even landed in Italy, but life has its ways and I had to leave for family reasons I followed remotely and am happy people had a good time congratulations to the organizers, speakers and the community

In Chrome go to `chrome://flags/#devtools-project-settings` and disable `DevTools Project Settings`. This will make Chrome stop accessing `/.well-known` paths and pollute your console output 😌

Quick PSA: If you're an event organizer who wants the Ruby Passport at your event, get in touch with me at least one month in advance. These things take a while to get made and shipped your way. ✌️

Developer anxiety is actually a quality control mechanism. It makes us check edge cases and side effects. LLMs aren't dangerous because they're wrong, but because they're fearless. They write terrifying code with zero hesitation. Beware of what you approve. You are the only guardrail left.

I’m going to be the old man (41) who talks about understanding the code the AI generates and being able to write it by hand. The kids will say I’m out of date, and I’ll never be sure they’re wrong. The indignity will never be lost on me that I’m talking about hand-writing god damn Javascript.

Another tip on closing <dialog>s involves the new `closedby` attribute. Putting `closedby="any"` on a <dialog> adds light-dismiss functionality to the dialog, meaning users can close the dialog with the Esc keyboard shortcut. #StylishHTML

You know what I really like about the current trend of using LLMs to build software? We suddenly write down code design decisions, document architectural choices, and in general write more specs. Why? Because LLMs need clear context to generate useful code. This is a big win!

Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.
