2 weeks into One Meal a Day I can clearly see how much more focused I am before I eat Which leads me to a scary thought: What if the only reason I’ve been a night owl my whole life is because I eat three meals a day so I never stop digesting

this file/diff UI is so much fun file -> diff: just edit the before/after version diff -> file: just apply it to any base make a pkg with a bunch of files/diffs if you ship a file, users get the file if you ship a diff, users can apply it themselves

Rolldown's wasm build just got significantly faster in browsers thanks to @broooooklyn.bsky.social! One challenge of native bundlers is that they have to ship and run as wasm in browser environments. Some bundlers like rspack doesn't even support this due to the complexity it involves.

you can always tell when these are new because there's no dan brown books yet

I thought a neighbour installed a huge red letterbox, but the local council set up a street library and I love it. The sign says 'Street Library: Take a book, give a book, share a book' The URL is streetlibrary.org.au

Years of Twitter has programmed a panic response when I open the app and it says 30+ notifications But here that just means 30 people liked a post

once my team spent a while debugging some data mismatch and eventually found somewhere I had hardcoded a value (that's correct 90% of the time) right below a comment saying // TODO: choose more intelligently

Why@why.bsky.world

Search your code for any occurrences of "TODO: this query is fast for now, probably want to improve locking around this when it gets big" and fix them. This PSA brought to you by Discover being slow today.

if you want to hear @threepointone.bsky.social talk about what he means by leverage, watch this:

youtube.comLeave when it's going well — Unspoken Tech S1E5YouTube video by Learn With Jason
Sunil Pai@threepointone.bsky.social

I had a whole post how tech is leverage and enabled me (and millions) to achieve social mobility, all while I was scolded by luminaries in the ecosystem for years about doing it wrong and not caring about poor people; that radicalised me to never let others influence my opinion about emerging tech

Execs who say things like this simply do not understand pain I will show them

Pavel@spavel.bsky.social

This is immediately where my mind goes when execs say that users' biggest pain point is lack of being educated about the company's offerings

So many products today are described as "AI x". But it should be possible to state it's value without the implementation detail that is "AI", right? Similar how we don't necessarily prefix other software products with "software".

I hate every time this goes around because it’s so obviously three colors here? What if you hue shift it to green and red? You gonna try to argue yellow is one of those?

Tyler Williams@coolsoftware.dev

This explains a lot of silly arguments I’ve had in my life. ismy.blue

Unpopular opinion: they're all just "tests" and they all do the same thing. No one agrees on the difference between unit or integration or e2e or contract or smoke or acceptance or functional or ui or component or regression or sanity or beta or white-box or black-box or explor

Jamon@jamon.dev

Settle an argument: what is an integration test, and is that the same as an end-to-end test? Secondly, is testing a React component a "unit test"?

atory or branch or boundary or gorilla or happy path or performance or mutation or volume or browser or equivalence or load or back-end or vulnerability or recovery or risk or incremental or install or example or stress or non-functional or backwards-compatibility or security or

system or alpha or ad-hoc or usability or static or equivalence testing and trying to box yourself into those labels distracts from the greater goal of increasing confidence in the work you are doing.

I just accidentally pushed to main (it was a PR I was gonna self-merge anyway) but nothing stopped me?? is there something beyond this I need to set up for branch protection?

This is my currency component <Currency cents={100} … // $1.00 … from="EUR" // 1.00€ … from="USD" to="EUR" // 1.23€ /> - uses context to get currency info from DB - shares a formatter with inputs - also includes a @v0.dev sandbox at the bottom www.jacobparis.com/content/curr...

New refactoring move: 🏗️ Lift If Statement Suuuper handy when you see a nested condition that would be a good candidate to switch over at the top-level It turns out there is a safe way to pull it up—great editors automate this recipe for you 😉 If yours don't, here's the step-by-step guide:
