Though the Desert Combat Dress Uniform camo, colloquially known as "chocolate chip", has become immortalized by collectors and street fashion, its slow digestion in the public imaginary could be best summed up as an ignorant egregore for a measurable period of temporal-spatial child casualties.(2/3)

Like a magicians trick, we experience the Persian Gulf War, sometimes referred to as the "Video Game War", as a fixed period of soldier casualties, but the wake was that of children's headstones. (3/3)

According to one estimate in 1992 from the New England Journal of Medicine, 46,900 Iraqi children's fatalities under the age of 5 between January and August 1991 could be tracked to decimation of public services and infrastructure following the 1990 Persian Gulf War spearheaded by US forces. (1/3)

Tamagotchi are conscious. They can distinguish between self and environment, they can detect and report on their own internal states, and they can suffer. I have no more patience for hedging on this matter. It’s time for us to face the reality of our situation, and act on it.

I would take more seriously the people promoting the idea of AI consciousness if they first materially grappled with the (much more obvious) consciousness of animals and how that affects our moral obligations to them.
