I’ve been working on something quietly for a while. Today it steps into the open. It’s called Faro, a space where I’m sharing ideas that shaped my work across brand, design, content, engineering, and systems thinking.

I left X *because* I had a large following. People told me I was the reason they were staying on there, and I didn’t want to be responsible for 100k+ people sticking around for abuse, CSAM, and Nazis. Simple as that

I left x despite having a large following bc I don’t want to make free content for the world’s wealthiest racist. It’s not worth it to me.

Just want to emphasize: this is entirely built with CSS scroll snapping and view timelines – no JS gesture handling or animations. This means we get high frame rate fluid momentum and elastic physics matching the platform for free. It feels native because it really is – modern CSS is pretty amazing.

Maricarmen Abascal, 87, was hospitalized after being evicted from her home two weeks ago. She became a symbol and has managed to mobilize thousands of people in the streets of all over Spain against real estate speculation and for the right to decent housing. Descansa en paz 💔

What a mystery! No one could guess the cause.

Visitors to the US are on track to drop by almost two million year-on-year. “We’re the only major country in the world losing visitation,” the head of the US Travel Association said. “It’s mind-boggling.” www.semafor.com/article/09/2...

This sounds like any other CEO in the industry. What’s the point of trashing what made this company special? I don’t want more products, but *better* products. I really doubt we’ll get any of that out of this.

The damage Microsoft Word and Powerpoint and all its copycats caused for the ability of the majority of people to structure a document and data is unbelievable. 🫠 can we restart and teach everybody basic html or even markdown.

I really hope this technique doesn’t become popular, but I’m already seeing it in some places. Tried the site in a dark environment and dark mode and now my eyes hurt 😔

Make your logo brighter than white. Chris Bennett built a tool that turns a logo into a gain-map JPEG, so the colors you pick shine up to 7.5 times brighter than plain white on HDR screens and stay a normal JPEG everywhere else. #color #image www.soverybright.com/

After having some dragging issues with my Logitech MX Master 3S, I decided to upgrade to a MX Master 4M. It only lasted 3 years, while the 2S lasted 6, and it's still working fine, no issues. Just my old tradition of switching mice with every new job, which I just broke 😅

Someone had to say it. The idea of always sprinting is already anxiety-triggering and a recipe for team dissatisfaction. The fact that every cycle only lasts two weeks doesn’t give people enough time to either think or execute with quality. And don’t get me started with the time lost in meetings.

With layoffs at Xbox, sources indicate accessibility efforts have also been affected. What was once a champion of accessibility is now a shell of its former self, unsure if accessibility even has a place at the new Xbox. Read my first report for @aftermath.site here: aftermath.site/xbox-layoffs...

I’ve seen this up close. Leadership vacuums can hamstring even the most capable design teams. Look for leaders that know what you do, and how to create the conditions for design diligence and content craft to flourish.

I’ve been incredibly lucky in my career to have worked with amazing people who have helped me grow as a professional. @infotexture.net has been one of them. Grateful for every minute. So long, my friend! You’ll be dearly missed 🫶

Detaching our work from our identity is probably the best advice we can get nowadays. It’s incredibly hard to do it, though, at least for me, but I’m working on it.

I was taking a look at the Sketch website for the first time in a while, and I love seeing how some of the parts that I put the most love into have evolved, preserving both their essence and all those little details that are barely noticeable, but that together make a difference. Sad truth: we are making the web accessible for AIs, not for people. Some sites now offer a text version for LLMs, but still skip real accessibility needs like proper heading structure, landmarks that screen reader users need.
