Downtime that matters, not traditional levels. Like in real life, if you want to get ahead, you gotta manage your downtime with things like studying, training, etc. I chose this because most games lack structure for it. You can craft new items, gain new abilities, and more. Progress every session.

Worldbuilding question for the GMs and writers out there; Is there any significance to a sentient* item? Is it inherently more powerful? Does it carry an actual soul in it? Is it just really fuckin' cool as hell and bring bragging rights with it? #TTRPG

I always keep a Google doc up to write down what the players focus on and do a quick recap within a day of finishing a session. I admire folks that can do it by hand, but knowing me, I would absolutely lose those notes in a heartbeat

Why my 1d8 system works: It gives you a 12.5% crit chance, I went so far as to make the difficulty of the roll built in. No more asking a hundred times a combat if the attack hits. 1: Extreme No (Crit Fail) 2-4: No 5-7: Yes 8: Extreme Yes (Crit Success.) It speeds up combat and no arbitrary DCs.

Staggered checks based on skills that actually make sense, you can take on any action. Ex: A chase insues, the GM says 2/3 checks must be successful. The first is Prowess for running. The second is Focus for mental endurance. Third is Understand for figuring out your surroundings to get a leg up.
