i’m less interested in what the machines say and more interested in what they get other people to say. they’re good at surfacing unknown knowns

good observation about cartography. 2D vector maps make sense from a performance and cost standpoint, but that invitation to explore the world gets stripped away, and people end up being less curious by default. i wonder how much impact switching the default to satellite imagery would have

custom algos for feeds are a thing already, so why not custom algos for the replies section as well?

I'm going back to Mastodon. I'm tired of having a minimum of one dumbass reply "I have no clue what you're talking about" every time I make a post.

kinds of replies i’d like to hide: - one emoji replies from people i don’t follow - mean-spirited - captain obvious, glaringly self-evident, nothing insightful

some replies i’d like to boost: - from people i don’t follow yet who have replied to me that i liked/reposted - insightful, novel - contains a neologism

instagram’s strict post:comment hierarchy and lack of nested replies stifles generative conversation. you can’t follow dialogue under any decently popular post because of the sheer volume. would make sense why intellectually-driven users go elsewhere x.com/ifvictr/stat...

more people just need to take an “observe a master craftsman” approach to learning how to use LLMs. the subtlety lies in the framing of the question and that can’t be discovered on your own very easily

i use them to: - sand down my raw thoughts - revisit past social interactions to surface any nuances/patterns - run simulations of novel situations so i know how to navigate them when they actually happen. it’s a sandbox for decision-making and strategizing in the form of a text adventure game

just spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to come up with something witty for my first post (this is my first post)

You are up to date.
