Last I'll post about this, but Elon Musk disagrees with me. This means I am onto something, and I feel more valid in my opinion than ever.

Improving a #Godot #gamejam game from earlier in the year; there's a NOTICEABLE frame drop when loading 3D dice subviewports (especially on web) When I start running profiling I can't get it to replicate. Runs smooth as butter... 🤡 (gotta be some weird shader caching issue or something right?)

Congrats on the progress, glad it's helping!

Day 2 of #devtober finished - the existing inventory component needed to make space for a "actionbar-only-inventory" approach. Simplified actionbar UI implemented and working. Wiring up UI in their giving context is so nice, thanks to the approach by @hoveringskull.bsky.social #gamedev #indiedev

Pompeii is a UNESCO world heritage site not because it was remarkable in its prime, but because it survived to our era untouched: one moment, preserved for all time. But future generations won't know what OUR world was like unless we do the same. This is why we MUST bury Toronto with a volcano

New Zelda remake looks fine, but I have almost no desire to replay Ocarina. The real fun was the wonder as a kid figuring stuff out. It's never occurred to me to play through again after knowing how it works. I'd probably get it for a kid I wanted to introduce to the genre though, I guess.

One of the most satisfying things in game dev (and all programming) is when you're adding a new feature and it ends up being easy because you designed something to be flexible a long time ago even though you didn't have a particular reason to at the time.

Thought I'd do a quick thread of a few things that I got up to this year. First: I wrote a weird manifesto about game design, making games for fun and love, and why no-one is going to pay you to do that. This remains one of the silliest/most rewarding things I've ever done.

Anyone have favourite software for making YouTube thumbnails? My workflow is generally around filtering and compositing existing owned images and laying out text. I've been using Krita and it's FINE but the UX really sucks. Photoshop is good, but really dislike a sub model. #youtube #opensource #art

Similarly, in Kenney Jam about 55% of all entries were made using @godotengine.org!

"Okay, feeling good, let's open up godot, I'm sure I organized and labeled my new projects so I can find them again because I'm a sensible gamedev and not a weird slob" Godot: #gamedev #godot #indiedev

Gross ai generated art ads showing up on the gamedev reddits (this was on r/godot) that pretend to be part of the conversation they're in with statements that can vaguely pass as responses to common posts in the space. Fuck these slop machines. #godot #gamedev #indiedev #ai

Update for #KenneyJam number 5: Frantically typing into wizard google: "My dragon, I got her as an egg but now she is very large; how to take care of" #gamejam #gamedev #indiedev #fantasy #petcare

Update 3 for #KenneyJam A wizard needs a cozy tower, and also a room for his growing dragon I think this game is going to be SimTower + MachiKoro + Tamagotchi (but also way less Japanese than those 3 things) #gamedev #indiedev #gamejam
