For folks testifying, a reminder that is happening *tomorrow* (8/27), starting at 10 AM (virtual) and noon (in-person), while written comments will still be accepted until Sept. 8. It shouldn't take over twenty years to build a housing project, but we can still get this one across the finish line.

The City of Issaquah just notched another housing reform in its belt for 2026, illustrating how fast a council and a mayor aligned on the issue can move. Tonight's approved bill allows for self-certification of DADUs - making Issaquah the first city in the state to implement HB 1353.

Happening now: The Seattle City Council's land use committee is deliberating CM Eddie Lin's bill removing the avenue of administrative appeal for areawide rezones and updates to the Comprehensive Plan. Appeals like this have significantly delayed zoning changes in the city in recent years.

Seattle is in the midst of a housing production freeze that threatens the city's Mandatory Housing Affordability (MHA) program. But with a temporary recalibration of MHA, we can save the program and restart production. Please read this important op-ed by HDC's Executive Director, Patience Malaba.
