Women, I am begging you here: please stop referring to yourselves as “girlies” (as in “I’m a fair-skinned girly”). We have enough trouble being treated as autonomous adults without infantalizing ourselves, especially now.

lol If you thought Mamdani was popular before…

Netanyahu directly attacks Zohran Mamdani (and his wife) from the UNGA podium, calling him the "antisemitic mayor of New York City," parroting The Free Press's stories about Rama Duwaji, tying Mamdani to Hasan Piker, and claiming the mayor is "buddies" with Hamas.

I do not want to hear another word about how George W. Bush isn’t actually that bad in retrospect.

Meanwhile, the New York Times has nothing to say about this at all, but has managed to publish a weepy op-Ed by Erica Kirk about how Charlie Kirk was “the love of [her] life” and pushing it as a news alert.

I think about this a lot when I think about the people who wouldn’t vote for Harris because of her association with “Genocide Joe.”

The destruction of USAID will go down in global history as one of the most lethal political disasters ever. An estimated 14 million people will die from this decision by 2030… twice the number killed in the Holocaust. The collective human grief will mark humanity forever.

Action item for all of us: call our electeds, eapecially our US House Reps. Say: "I ask that you PUBLICLY oppose Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn's anti-democratic attempt to change party rules post-primary—and add that if she tries it, you won't recognize her as BK Dems' chair." bsky.app/profile/newk...

Tonight the party chair announced her intention to pursue an anti-democratic power grab—changing the rules and packing the executive committee so she can overrule Brooklyn voters and hold on to her position. All Democrats should reject this as antithetical to the values of our party.

Trump 'blew it' by tanking perfect chance for US to win over the entire world

dlvr.itTrump 'blew it' by tanking perfect chance for US to win over the entire worldHuge international sporting events on the level of the FIFA World Cup are a prime opportunity for a country to make a good impression on the world, but as a new piece from MS NOW argued, President Donald Trump took the perfect chance for the U.S. to do so and "blew it." In the Sunday piece, MS NOW's Zeeshan Aleem shared his own experience visiting Russia for the 2018 World Cup, calling the experience a "breeze" that left him rooting for Russia throughout the game and lamenting "the rich Russian culture that rarely gets covered in the Western press." This trip, one of the greatest of his life, was a prime example of "sportswashing," he explained, a phenomenon that involves "governments staging sports events to launder their reputation and divert attention from their misdeeds." "President Donald Trump was handed a golden opportunity to boost America’s image to international visitors here for the 2026 World Cup," Aleem wrote. "He is the reason, after all, the world is suffering from higher oil prices. He can’t find his way out of a mortifying war he’s clearly losing, tourism is plummeting, and his international reputation is in swift decline. But he blew it." He continued: "Trump achieved the opposite of sportswashing. His policies were hostile to visitors, he injected politics into the tournament, and he even brazenly meddled with what was happening on the pitch. In sum, his style of hosting cast the U.S. in an unusually negative light during the most widely watched cultural event in the world. Trump’s inability to see beyond his most reflexive impulses to throw red meat to his base sabotaged the larger opportunity to impress the world and soften his image. His failure to be the welcoming, gracious tournament host mirrors the way he operates with increasing frequency in domestic politics — blinkered, self-defeating. Trump’s modus operandi is one own goal after another, and an embarrassment for the United States." Trump notably broke the trend of countries relaxing their immigration policies in order to welcome foreign World Cup spectators with open arms. Aleem noted that this was even true for past host countries like Russia and Qatar, which have similarly restrictive tendencies with their immigration laws. Instead, the U.S. made the trip "hellish, if not impossible" for many, with visiting fans from over a quarter of the event's participating nations running into bans, high rates of visa rejections or restrictions." "A Somali referee was not allowed in the U.S. to do his job," Aleem detailed. "A number of individual players, including team members from Iraq and Haiti, struggled to get visas or were detained in airports. Many sports journalists from the Middle East and Africa were denied entry. The Iranian soccer team got treated like a band of murderers instead of elite professional athletes. Many members of the team’s support staff were barred from entering the U.S., and the team was forced to move its base training camp from the U.S. to Mexico." He concluded: "None of this is to say that most fans who made it to the U.S. didn’t have a grand time and experience some heart-warming cultural exchanges. But the good feelings of our visitors happened despite Trump and his myriad offenses. The tournament succeeded in generating joy despite Trump’s unholy alliance with Infantino. Instead of allowing those visitors to focus on the best of America, he showed them the worst of himself

Americans thinking Canadian wildfire smoke shouldn’t affect them and Canadians thinking FDA cuts won’t affect our food supply. We’re all on this continent together, buckos. Smoke, parasites and viruses don’t care about borders.

And they’re still doing it! Just a couple of days ago I got a breaking news alert talking about how “Trump is using his extraordinary power” or some bullshit. Unreal.

A friend of mine found these three kittens behind a Bay Area gas station. They are tame, vaccinated, and incredibly affectionate. Unfortunately, she's unable to keep them and I'm trying to find them a home. They are at risk of going to a shelter. Bay Area people, are you open to adopting?

Great. Avoid the area around Grand Central. That’s no problem.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani said a high-profile housing project under construction near Grand Central that's at risk of collapse was still unstable Tuesday afternoon. He warned New Yorkers to avoid 40th to 45th Streets, between First and Third Avenues.

challenging to phrase this exactly right because it'd be in bad taste to use this as a gotcha against all his supporters, but the journalists who very explicitly framed Platner as a rejection of stuff like "HR Lady Politics" or (ugh) "smoothgroins" should take a long, hard, look in the mirror today

Many of us told you Platner needed to go after the Nazi tattoo came out. But no, he was “working class,” so it didn’t matter. (Note: he is not and has never been working class — another thing we told you.) This is on everyone who continued to support him. Hope you’re proud.

Look, saying you “love” a country doesn’t mean anything. You can love certain principles, I suppose, but if your country is betraying them, saying you still love it doesn’t make sense. I don’t love or not love the US. It’s where I live and I’m committed to making it work for everyone. That’s all.

Yet another sign of how the ultrawealthy use public spaces as their personal playground and to hell with everyone else. Get out of the way, proles, the oligarchy wants to throw a party. Fuck these people.

One of the most successful pedestrian streets in the world, the Strøget in Copenhagen, was filled with cars until a 2 year pedestrianization pilot project in 1962. The opposition argued “no cars means no business,” but the street has been a massive retail success, the city’s busiest shopping street.

In all fairness, everyone (meaning the establishment Dem party) was *acting* like Reynoso was an incumbent. But you’d think the Times would have staff who knows what the fuck they’re taking about.

Grace Judicata@holborne.bsky.social

Reynoso is an “incumbent”? News to me, and I’m sure to Nydia Velázquez, too. Brilliant reporting here, NYT. Just really A1.

I wonder if we could take a lesson from the fact that the Knicks won their first championship in 53 years the same year Zohran Mamdani became mayor and lost their only game in two months the same night Trump showed up.

Can we now finally stop the Katie Porter worship?
