honestly, a major concern for me involving these AI-heavy recomp projects (and AI-heavy emulation-related projects as a whole) is how a lot of people “developing” them not only can’t tell you what’s going on under the hood in full, they don’t know or care to stay in the grey area emulation dev is in

if your goal is to make a program that allows a game to be playable outside of its original console, you need to not release out your shit with BIOS files, any game ROMs, and/or decryption keys and tell people “good luck with that”. but so many of these “projects” don’t care and will do it anyway

people need to realize azahar not supporting anbernic devices anymore isn’t a “petty jealous dev move,” it’s a protective action done due to the history of tropic haze’s legal trouble and that nearly shattering not just 3DS/switch emulation, but *all of video game emulation with it*.

no amount of forking, self-hosted repositories, or anything else will protect you from a certain legal team finding you, if the case with tropic haze didn’t settle. if that case went to court, that could’ve been what threw emulation out of the grey area it needs to be to exist as it currently is now

so, yeah, i respect the azahar team’s decision to not support anbernic devices going forward! anbernic is already in trouble with being recognized by the ESA to have included copyrighted roms in cheap lil microsd cards, which, in turn, could’ve threatened other retro handheld companies *with them*
