if it took you 5 seconds of contemplation to think of an alternative you should take at least another 5-10 to at least consider the possibility that it at least crossed the minds of 1 or 2 of the people who dedicate their lives and research careers to dealing with the problems we post about on here

This post is perfect engagement bait because it's both a) so obviously correct in the broader sense that it's banal to point out, yet b) so annoyingly wrong in the level of specifics that the list of counterexamples is a mile long.
Comedy ages incredibly badly. I mean which 40+ year old comedy movies hold up? I can only think of a handful: Annie Hall. Some Like It Hot. Dr. Strangelove. Young Frankenstein. That’s about it. I like Philadelphia Story & It Happened One Night, but I doubt anyone under age 40 could tolerate these.

More than half way to Net Zero in UK The key fact is that most people believe it is a long way off and hard. Only 8% believe we're halfway there. www.gov.uk/government/n...

my favorite part is that this scene is very important in the 2000s-era Star Trek vs. Star Wars debates. There are entire articles about this scene, and it's solely arguing about the rules of the debate and not believing that there can be any non-linear elements in a star wars movie
Unironically one of the funniest jokes in Star Wars history is literally that bit from Empire where an asteroid smacks into the bridge of a Star Destroyer and just flat-out kills a guy in the middle of a call with Vader, and everyone just ignores him

How can you be so bad at criticising Starmer that I even start to side with him. Me, siding with Starmer!? The the guy doesn't even have a side, just a nebulous void of opinions
😂 Sam Coates makes an ABSOLUTE TIT of himself. Calls PM photos "fake news" then finds out they're from the Press Association. If you make a spurious, inflammatory point you never made about any official photograph before, to pitch yourself as the only reliable source, at a minimum check your facts.
Flock: we've very sorry for creeping on your children for a sales demo, going forward we promise not to do this and creep on other town instead 🙏
Flock accessed cameras in a children's gymnastics room as a sale pitch demo. Despite being confronted by residents, the town decided to renew the contract anyway. @jasonkoebler.bsky.social breaks it down. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLR8...

I feel like we’re willing to make Pluto a planet again, at least provisionally, if they’re willing to fund astrophysics. I’d say $100 billion/year is reasonable But if you keep cutting our budgets, I swear we’ll keep eliminating them. Hope you like a three planet solar system!
Isaacman: very much in the camp of making Pluto a planet again. Working on some papers right now to escalate through the scientific community to revisit this. And that's it.
"Anglo-saxo heritage" is a dog whistle everyone needs to learn
The white nationalist undertones in this speech have been dramatically underreported. Trump says the colonists had British blood, the 1776 revolutionaries’ “veins ran with Anglo-Saxon courage,” and criticized the notion that America is an idea. Echoed Vance’s blood and soil speech from last year.

So many replies/quotes are "thats cos traffic makes me drive slow" which essentially advocating for more road deaths
London is proving that sustained action on road safety delivers real change. By investing in better junctions, safer speeds and HGV safety standards, we’re building a city you can move around with confidence. Low rates are a start, but our goal is zero. Because every journey should end safely.
A little more more forgivable when you look at the tie breaker rules tho: "The tied teams shall be ranked in the standings according to the lowest quotient of fewest runs allowed divided by the number of defensive outs recorded in the games in that round between the teams tied"
chat should your manager know things like “how the team can be eliminated from the entire tournament”
