Ian G. He/Him - Chicago It seems the difficulty settings on this playthrough have gone askew. Focusing on the side quests and sharing all of their gold.

My partner and I have been rewatching Golden Girls, and one of the many things I regularly appreciate is how hard the studio band goes on the theme. Sure, it’s poignant and sets the show up perfectly, but that drummer is cooking.

Holds the snare through the first section, into a sweet fill and three crashes. I think the last one might even be a china hit. That always sticks out, but the whole turn is expertly performed.

Winnipeg, Manitoba’s very own.

Show me the cover of an album that, to you, is so good, so perfect, you can’t even believe it was made by mortal humans on earth. I keep coming back to this one. There’s no way mere people could have done it.

Make it exactly like the Pitt, but none of the patients remember the name of their doctor.

How about a Doctor who isn’t a man OR a woman? What if the Doctor is three baked potatoes centuries apart? And there are Muppets. But we never see them. None of this is televised and there’s a glass pyramid and a 40-foot creaking wooden Gene Rayburn. Please contact my agent, an alpaca.

Watching the Golden Girls and trying to figure out which of the Young Ones they’d be. Sophia as Vyvyan and Blanche as Mike Thecoolguy. Dorothy as Rik and Rose as Neil make sense, but I could also see swapping those two.

I’m bummed I’m resharing a CD rip that has skips, but this hasn’t been digitally released. Genre tag belies how soulful this song is. Shame some people will skip it for that. There were three years where they were constantly on tour, and this album reflects that.

It’s fun when one of these shows up that I’m pretty certain I was at. Especially fun as I’m waiting the delivery of the re-release of their discography from Forge Again Records.

Grew up with a beta VCR and a slew of movies taped off of free trials of premium cable channels. One of those formative movies was LEGEND starring Tim Curry as Darkness. While Ridley Scott’s modern take on fairy tale may not have captured the zeitgeist, it caught and held my attention.

Curry’s costume was certainly memorable, but every time I revisit the movie I’m more captivated by the nuance and humanity he emanates through it. Evil is freakish and imposing, but it also charms and compels.

I come up with ridiculous ideas for playlists and then spend far too much time trying to make them work. One of my latest ideas was “Funcanny Valley”, a shuffled list of songs that mixes less known originals with strange cover versions.

The hope was to leave the listener in a position of doubting that they knew whether it was an obscure original or a weird cover. One of the things I was reminded of while working on this is how good Radiodread, the reggae version of OK Computer, is.

Did you know Shakespeare invented the word "Thursday"? Before him, people just didn't mention the day between Wednesday and Friday. The Bard strikes again!

🎶🎶 Why are there so many Songs about Mothra? And why she has friends in a clam She’s Queen of monsters That live on an island Shoots webs from her Diaphragm So some will say and Some call them titans I know they’re wrong Can’t you see? 1/

So my Grandma passed away a few months ago. She really didn’t want anyone crying over her and made a rule of no tearful goodbyes and no funeral. She asked the family to throw a party for her when we all could. Turned out to be ~three months. I miss her a lot, but she wasn’t scared to go.

It was comforting seeing someone that was ready decide to go on their own terms. Her party is this weekend, so we’re all stressed trying to honor her. One of my jobs is trying to convey the breadth of her life as a singer, actress, mother in a 2 hour playlist. That is daunting.

The one thing that has become clear is that her being prepared doesn’t absolve everyone else. Grief needs some place to go. I keep finding songs that might make someone cry, but also trying to find ways to bring joy and humor. I think I may end wearing my Grandma’s sweater to further that effort.
