Century: Spice Road is one of the #boardgames that felt really overproduced to me for what it really was, so my 🎲✂️ is almost a de-theme. Smaller cards, smaller box, and Alessio Issupoff’s “Samarkand” the sole image used. Still very playable and very beginner-friendly.
Happy #PortfolioDay! I’m a digital designer from 🇪🇪 who likes modding board games: smaller boxes, clearer rules references, and occasionally a complete visual overhaul. Some of my tabletop experiments: hardi.design/games
Spyrium is my pinkest 🎲✂️ so far and brings me joy 😄 It's a great game and the grid-based worker placement is so damn clever! Making it brighter and replacing some of the unique effects with actual text makes it much easier to teach.
It's bean 10 years since I 🎲✂️ Uwe Rosenberg's punny card trading game: hardi.design/jellybeantrade This one didn't really become smaller, but it sure looks delicious. 14 is Barberry because that's one of my defining childhood tastes, pretty sure it's never been a jelly bean flavour 🥲
Boardgamesmaker is very beginner friendly as they accept RGB files (but they provide the HP Indigo Gloss colour profile in their FAQ just in case), don't require dielines at all, and bleed area is already and shown in the template.
You can use a lot of layout or graphics programs but 1. Ensure the dieline is on a separate layer marked as non-printing; preferably, use the color magenta. 2. Include at least 0.5 cm of bleed in the cover design and ensure it is set to CMYK color mode.

My tiny Citadels box that just happens to fit the full game while being smaller than both recent English editions 😄 hardi.design/citadels 🎲✂️
Posted FIST\deck to my website, including the fun fact that I tested 216 combinations of typeface, font size, line height, letter spacing and alignment to fit all the text on a poker card 😄
hardi.design/dogsofwar is one of my proudest 🎲✂️ projects: box is 1⁄4 of original but the cards and screens are a pretty close visual match to original components 😎 Added in the Kickstarter bonus content. Also when playing #boardgames meeples feel so much better than plastic minis with large hats!
hardi.design/greed is an underrated drafting game of building a modestly sized criminal empire. Maybe the theme is why it's not better known 🤷 Anyway, I wasn't feeling ambitious so my 🎲✂️ kept the theme as-is but made the cards more legible.
hardi.design/temporum is the first 🎲✂️ where I mostly kept the cards and tokens as is, but made it 4× smaller by dropping the mostly useless board. #boardgames don't need air in the box 😅

hardi.design/kawaiikrash is definitely the cutest trick-taking game I own and 3rd in my pouch series. Original game was themed around car crashes and insurance, my 🎲✂️ is more about exploding from cuteness overload 😄

hardi.design/red7 is one of my most-played #boardgames. It's mostly true to original, just scaled down.. 🎲✂️
hardi.design/thecity was my first 🎲✂️ where I really focused on making the whole game follow a consistent design system, removing the German translations entirely. Mostly succeeded, as the following plays confirmed.. 😊
hardi.design/6nimmt is basically my first 🎲✂️ that used small cards & a printed coin pouch to be really portable. No rules reference card this time. Replacing the bull heads from OG 6 nimmt with "noise symbols" from the Playstation Portable hit Patapon made sense in my head at the time 😄
Inspired by @danielroe.dev I added comments functionality to my portfolio using barebones AT Protocol query. Definitely not necessary, but amazing that it's even possible 😅
Been dabbling in 🎲✂️ for a while. 2014 saw the release of hardi.design/tarkmeestaskus. Rules by Meelis Looveer, I did art and graphic design. Name means "Smart Pocket Guy" from 🇪🇪 folk tale. Box uses local patterns from Muhu island. Card art is just a smart pocket guy doing things, not high concept 😄
@claymorerpgs.bsky.social Do you want to add the vector version of compatibility badge to the community pack? I made it because I wanted to make my FIST\deck thumbnail at higher res.
About time I updated my website design as well. Nothing unnecessary, just overview of work projects and board game designs: hardi.design
Only took 24 months, but I updated and fixed my FIST rpg cards. luminarious.itch.io/fist-deck/de...
