The IDU is an international syndicate for far-right authoritarians, and Canada’s Conservative Party is actively aligned with it. Keeping membership in this organization is a direct betrayal of democratic values. An editorial by @taylornoakes.com.

The Nova Scotia NDP scolding MLA Paul Wozney just seems like a perfect example of the "be kind" tropes we see all the time. I always say when people say "be kind" what they really mean is "be quiet." The Nova Scotia NDP want us to "be kind/quiet." Taking to the streets is not violence.

This is indefensible behaviour from Everwind. The research done by this reddit poster on the issue is worth your time. The link to the thread www.reddit.com/r/halifax/co... - The Halifax Examiner is one of the last true resources we have for journalism in Nova Scotia. Disgusting.

This thread is good. Something we need more people to understand.

I’ll try again then The reason electricity is awesome is because once you plug everything into a grid, it doesn’t *matter* where the power comes from. You have your load and you have your capacity and you have some work to balance them but it’s all “in” and “out”.

If your grid is dirty today because you’ve got a couple coal burning power plants in Cape Breton, good environmental policy still should be “electrify demand” because you can replace those coal plants with solar or wind or nuclear and nothing else changes.

Why do restaurants in Halifax seem to focus on Uber eats and not Skip? There are 3 nearby places that are only on Uber and I have no plan of reinstalling that app. I’m looking at you Bonfire this evening. #halifax #fooddelivery #skip #ubereats

Never mind. i don’t know why local restaurants don’t use skip, but I really wanted some bonfire and downloaded Uber Eats. It pisses me off that it’s such a better app experience. - Map of restaurants - snappy - tight Apple Pay integration - small quality of life features on iOS

This is NOT normal. I cannot think of anything like it in the 40 years I reported. (Including 30 covering NS politics). No Nova Scotia should be ok with this.

Tim Bousquet@timbousquet.bsky.social

Update: Both Joan Baxter and Jennifer Henderson were escorted out of the EverWind press conference by security. Both are older women who present no physical threat to anyone. Both behave as reporters do. But we (the Halifax Examiner) write critically about EverWind.

On a certain podcast, a pair of former Paul Martin advisors were chuckling about this advice -- and the inherent irony. Here's the difference: Chretien was on track to win another majority government when Martin and his people took him down. Freeland *saved* her party from oblivion by doing it.

Alex Panetta@alexpanetta.bsky.social

Well, look at this. Jean Chretien's political instincts recently made a fateful under-the-radar return to Canadian politics

The stars over Big Bend belong to all Texans, not the Ultra Wealthy. Now data center development in West Texas is raising new concerns about protecting our dark skies, including those surrounding McDonald Observatory. We need to protect our natural treasures before they’re lost to corporate greed.

My blue jays may have had a horrible season where they couldn’t get slug to save their life; but at least I still get to enjoy the Jankees make 3 errors in the first inning and have a hilarious 5th inning.

The death penalty is one of those things where I tend to assume everyone normal agrees with me and then it comes up and it’s like, oh! You DO believe the state should kill people!

Reading all the statements from the young, lesser-known artists dropping out of Ed Sheeran's tour, which could have been an incredible and lucrative career opportunity for them, fills me with such admiration.

When I see a play like this, the bases clearing double it makes one think. In a completely unrelated thought, is anyone else sick and tired of all the betting ads, odds in the broadcasts, etc?

Keegan Matheson@keeganmatheson.bsky.social

The #BlueJays have broken it wide open. I don't know what Beavers was doing there in left field, but he whiffed on the ball completely and George Springer clears the bases. It's 8-1.
