The border patrol missed this fugitive. Shocked. Also, how did he get into the US without a passport? colombiaone.com/2026/10/27/f...

Taking odds on Trump issuing him a US passport and sending a private jet to bring him to the States.
FlΓ‘vio Bolsonaro had his passport confiscated by the Brazilian fed police as his brother Eduardo told him to flee to the US. He is tied to paramilitary gangs, is being investigated & lost his legislative immunity when he left the Senate to run for president. paydayreport.com/brazilian-fe...

Area Mayor Plays Basketball On Public Property
New: Mayor Zohran Mamdani and a group of his friends have been secretly using the NYPD Police Academyβs gymnasium in Queens to play pickup basketball β scrambling some operations at the facility. w/ @grahamrayman.bsky.social & Joe Anuta www.politico.com/news/2026/10...
I read "The Hidden Injuries of Class", years ago. That little voice is in all of us first generation university grads.
From the outside, I have all the markings and credentials of a person who should βfitβ in academia (for better or worse). But thereβs a little Bourdieu who sits on my shoulder and whispers βhabitusβ and βyour Dad was a high school drop-out truck-driverβ at all the wrong times.
Canada seems to be a pretty happy with the march of privatization and deregulation. Conservative parties hold 80 percent of the vote. Either that, or there are a bunch of Canadians who are willing to sacrifice medicare and the environment because of Trump.

Meanwhile, Carney wants Musk to know he's really, really mad about the whole Ukraine thing. That's it .
In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. βDigital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.β This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring FlΓ‘vio Bolsonaro.

Carney is so angry he will feel really terrible when he does nothing to penalize that (of course) unnammed person.
Mark Carney on Elon Musk crippling Ukraineβs Starlink: βI search for the right adjective to describe whoever took this decisionβ¦ against a country that is literally fighting for the lives of its citizens against naked aggression."

I hope one lesson is FPTP has got to go. Of course, I've hoped that since 1980. Next time for sure, eh?
Record low NDP voter turnout caused this. 275,000 fewer NDP votes. Congratulations to the #BCGreens the only party to actually gain votes. I never want to hear about "strategic voting" again. The NDP couldn't even be bothered to vote "strategically" for their own party. #bcpoli #cdnpoli

Carney is the Shock Doctrine in an expensive suit, & "the world's a dangerous place" is his thought terminating clichΓ©. Therefore, according to Carneyism, we can't afford a liveable climate, or human rights, or privacy, or public goods, or anything but absolute surrender to oligarchs on all fronts.
And this time, she really, really means it. Cross her heart. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

The consultants who actually run the party, beg to disagree. Everything went perfectly. Nothing needs to change. The voters are just grumpy.
My take? Eby's snap election moved up what was going to happen anyway. They were going to lose the next election under Eby. A long-in-the-tooth centre-right NDP govt with a charisma-free leader was ripe for the picking. Now they have a chance to reinvent themselves as a genuine progressive party.
