I met Walter Koenig a few times — once on the strike lines. Again at various Star Trek events. He was always so humble, and funny, and engaging with everyone. Even after decades of fandom. May we all live like that. Live long and prosper.

Working with Eric Bauza was such a tremendous joy. He was always so kind and open hearted, even before he became the voice of our childhood. Even back in the Six Point Harness days. A dazzling light in every room. I’m so glad I got to know him. I will miss him terribly. 💔

One of the benefits of living in state like California is voting is fast, simple and transparent. I dropped off my ballot yesterday and already got this message:

For any UK #StarTrekProdigy fans out there… Both seasons of our show are coming to ITVX this October 1st! 🖖

@seanferrick.bsky.social @elittlechild.bsky.social Some great news. @goodaaron.bsky.social so pleased that more of the UK will be able to see this great show!

Even though it was unbearably hot, this Stat Trek Day was great. (The weather makes me question whether we occupy an M-Class planet, though.)

Happy 60th on this wonderful Star Trek day. Beautiful ceremony, good to see family.

That Galileo Shuttlecraft casserole dish must be mine.

NEW! The first big announcement for #StarTrek's 60th anniversary week is here — a new collaboration with luxury cookware company Le Creuset to send your kitchen to the final frontier blog.trekcore.com/2026/09/star...

If you like Dungeons and Dragons and comedy versions of the above, check out my friends at @dungeonsanddads who are crowdfunding their first D&D dad-themed TTRPG book! It’s really fun. I promise. And they’re in their final hours of fundraising! Link below: 👇 www.backerkit.com/c/projects/r...

Believe it or not, there is exclusive merch for the TV shows and films we creatives work on that we’ll never recieve. It’s for marketing only — and I’m supremely jealous of the cool swag some folks get! (Not complaining! Just an observation during this hallowed Comic Con week.)

In college, I studied under Peter Bondanella — one of the world’s foremost scholars on Machiavelli and Fellini. Since he knew him personally, I once asked him what Fellini was like. “Just a man,” Peter said with a shrug. Now that I work in Hollywood, I get what he meant.

Whether you agree with his (self-admittedly) cantankerous opinions, Harlan Ellison was truly a force to be reckoned with. I think about this interview often — especially when young writers ask me how to make a living as one.

CALIFORNIA VOTERS: Today’s the LAST DAY to vote in the midterm elections! You can still fill out your ballot or visit a polling place if you haven’t yet. If you don’t know who to choose, there are many great voter guides that help lay out their positions and endorsements!

When I first opened the NextDoor app, I remember reading a completely serious post that said: “I knew this neighborhood was going downhill when all the songbirds left and all I saw was crows” I think about that a lot.

When I was fresh out of college, I had no connections and nothing but a dream. I co-wrote an indie animated spec. Somehow, we got it to Tom. He voiced our main character for free. “Putting good into the world has a habit of coming back around,” he said. RIP Tom Kane. Thank you, truly.

Tom Kane has passed away at the age of 64 He voiced Yoda, Professor Utonium, and many other roles

He also used his personal relationships to help get us a pitch at Cartoon Network. He really, really didn’t have to. He didn’t know us. But he did, because he believed in us when no one else would.

Growing up a few minutes south of Indianapolis, I attended the Indy 500 probably 6 or 7 times. After a few laps, we’d leave the stands and walk through the tunnel to the buildings in the middle. Check out the museum there. Buy lunch at one of many cafes. It was a small city.

I know the word “agonist” is just a medical term for a kind of neurotransmitter… But to me, it will forever sound like some kind of demon necromancer D&D monster that specializes in magical torment.

Since a few folks are curious, TV animation often takes a surprisingly long time. From development to greenlight to production usually lasts years, as scripts to character designs to environments and style are meticulously created from scratch! (1/2)

Sometimes for this reason, it means even a show’s very existence is kept secret for a shocking amount of time. We nearly finished writing the entire 52 episode run of TROLLHUNTERS for Netflix before it was even announced. Then another 2 years of production before they were all finished!

An interesting aspect of human nature and probability, now that prediction markets are so prevalent in news coverage. If the odds of something are 20% and it happens anyway, it doesn’t make it “wrong.” It means it was a 1/5 chance and we got the 1. Otherwise it would be 0%.
