This is how you ruin the vibe of the sidewalk cafe. Jarvis Square is for the people! Not for commerce! I'm about to overturn the money-lending tables up in here.

The Iowan in me thanks the Illinosian in me.

Not a bad baseball stance. From the 14th-century Le Roman de la Rose.

Lotta people ragging on this, but I remain intrigued by the experiment!

Sony is considering releasing all 4 ‘BEATLES’ biopics on the same day in April 2028. Another idea being considered is offering a 4-pack of tickets to encourage fans to buy tickets to all 4 films at once. (Source: www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...)

It's funny. I'm surrounded by so much all-lower-case-everything these days that *I* feel like the outsider for swinging the other way.

WIRED@wired.com

today, lowercase can be clickbait, or a strategy of gen z-ers to read as less intense. it can also be a status symbol, or a way to signal human authorship. finally, pockets of the internet still see lowercase as somehow antiestablishment.

This is just more of the everyone-is-twelve theory in action. This is child behavior.

Republican Rep. Andy Harris incorrectly told a reporter they were breaking the law as the reporter and others recorded an exchange with him last night. Harris had just wrapped up a debate with Democratic challenger Dan Schwartz.

I've always thought Gibney is at his best when using a small incident to widen out and look at a bigger systemic thing. Think "Taxi to the Dark Side," "Zero Days," and "No Stone Unturned." When he's assigned, essentially, an info review, like with the Elizabeth Holmes doc, it's flatter.

i kinda felt this way about Gibney's adaptation of GOING CLEAR — as a long-time observer of the CoS I knew most of the stuff in the book before I read it, and everything in the movie was in the book— and despite that, its release wound up basically killing the Church of Scientology so idk

Goddamn it, they just couldn't leave well enough alone.

When Lee in the "East of Eden" miniseries says it's too late for him to find a wife, I'm like "Uh ... yeah, OK, sure. Totally, man. If you say so. You're definitely not looking fine as hell."

Do you think my neighbors think I'm weird for playing Ennio Morricone's score to "The Mission" while I read on my back porch?

My hot take is that, often, the sentimentality y'all criticize in Flanagan's King adaptations is just sentimentality that King built in to begin with. Recall the author's reaction to Kubrick's "The Shining."

Two eps into the new "Carrie" miniseries. Love that it's finding ways to incorporate the found-document elements of the book. Also, great casting so far.

And effective needle drops. And a guidance-counselor scene that was way more affecting than I expected? Good stuff, is the point.

At a work outing to a Fall Fest carnival where fully 80% of the signage is AI-generated. Note the multiple attempts at "jalapeños" and the "beof" line.

And they've got another version of this same sign where the spellings are different. So they tried to one-shot this as an image multiple times and jumbo-printed different variations.

Definitely thought I was looking at a pic of Ryan Seacrest at first.

As Quebec’s election campaign comes to an end, we remind you that our presumptive next premier said the N-word on live TV during a 2022 election debate, and successfully goaded the leader of the province's most progressive party to do the same. #polqc

Bartender at the whiskey bar reading "The Cambridge Companion to Hobbes." I asked him about it. Turns out he's teaching a class at Loyola! This economy, man.
