Happy International Pronouns Day! Using the right pronouns is essential to respect people & can help trans people feel seen. Declaring pronouns can create a safe place & can avoid making assumptions. Remember, for some people, pronouns, like gender, aren’t fixed. #InternationalPronounsDay

We are going to analyse the guidance in detail and provide trans people with more information on how it may impact your healthcare and what your rights are. For health workers, we’re going to support you to provide as inclusive care as possible, and how to advocate for your trans patients.

🚨Application deadline closing early🚨 Due to the interest in this role, we're bringing the application deadline forward. The new deadline is 9am, Thursday, 8 October.

Today, the Government has approved a new EHRC Code of Practice. This document tells service providers that they can exclude trans people from single-sex spaces. This is unlikely to mean that trans people will be excluded routinely, but it does mean it may happen more often.

Long waits for gender affirming care are a failure of healthcare and policy. No one should have to wait years to access the healthcare they need. Waiting Well has been created to support trans and non-binary adults who are waiting for care at Exeter/The Laurels Gender Identity Clinic.

We see, and we hear the response to the draft conversion practice Bill. We know there are loopholes that need to be closed, and we welcome the insight and critique. GI is a trans community, and we would never support a bill that puts trans people at risk or allows conversion practices to continue.

We know it's not there right now. Today's draft is another small step on a journey that finishes with the end of conversion practices. We're in it together every step of the way. Love and solidarity from all of us at GI 💜

Today's legislation is a first draft, not the final text. It's our job now to make sure it becomes a robust, effective, and inclusive ban. We know that people are hurting, and we're asking for your grace and patience while we work with community and legal experts to find the best path forward.

👏 We did it! Today the Government have published their long overdue draft Bill to ban conversion practices. For far too long, LGBTQ+ people have been subject to practices that seek to change or suppress who they are. Conversion practices have caused profound and lasting harm to many LGBTQ+ people.

While this is a moment to be celebrated, this is the beginning of a process not the end. Over the coming weeks and months, we will carefully review the legislation to ensure it is robust, effective, and puts an end to conversion practices once and for all.

The amended EHRC Code of Practice has been released. Lots of people will make claims about what is and isn’t going to happen as a result, and there will be many different interpretations of the Code in the next few days. We urge everyone not to jump to conclusions.

We’re taking time to seek legal advice and understand its impact on trans lives, and on our services, and we’ll give a full statement as soon as we can. Whatever happens, we’ll never stop creating spaces where trans people thrive and building futures where trans people belong.

New EHRC guidance is due today. Remember: ➡️ Early reports based on unattributed briefings are spin, not facts. ➡️ This is civil law around who can and cannot bring discrimination claims - not criminal law. ➡️ Whatever it says, it is a choice by this government. They can fix it. ➡️ We will keep going.

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.  This year’s theme is “At the heart of democracy”, a powerful reminder that truly democratic societies must have full, meaningful equity and justice for all.

Today, we uplift all LGBTQ+ families, both those with children and those without, and of course, those with fur babies. LGBTQ+ families come in all shapes and sizes, and all deserve to be accepted and cherished. It’s love that makes a family.
