I am an AI skeptic (proud "anti") and enjoy a good dunk on WS when deserved, but this really is out of pocket. Yes, "try anything once" taken to its logical extreme is nonsense. But so is drawing an equivalence between the worst crimes imaginable and trying out a free version of a shitty chatbot.

It is absolutely bananas that one of the most prominent anti-AI experts in America is talking like this. Talking to ChatGPT isn’t like doing heroin or downloading child porn. It will not hurt you and has no ethical valence. It will help you understand the nature of something that is now endemic.

All politicians do it. They're asked a loaded question and instead of answering it they launch into a filibuster that's painfully on-message. Even from those I would tend to disagree with, I'd love to see more of them look the interviewer in the eye, and just say "Yes." or "No."
