First exit polls have been released in Israel. All three suggest that Netanyahu's party has out-performed the polls but that it will be (likely) unable to form government.

It looks like the Arab parties have managed between 16 and 18 seats, which is a pretty impressive gain. Particularly as there have been continued efforts to disqualify the parties and expel their lawmakers from the Knesset.

Exit polls are being updated by the five big TV stations (official results expected in a few hours.) Three are more-or-less the same: Opposition ahead, Netanyahu's bloc is 11 seats away from a majority, Arab parties hold the balance of power. The other two have Netanyahu's bloc closer to majority

Obviously follow Israeli political experts for proper analysis, but the crux of the matter is that Netanyahu has no real coalition partners beyond his bloc. The opposition is unlikely to make a formal deal with the independent Arab parties, but it will probably be able to govern with their support.

While things are dire in Russia's air bombardment of Ukraine, it *looks* like Kyiv is innovating new ways to shoot down Moscow's jet-powered drones, particularly with the use of European-supplied F-18s.

❗️🇺🇦 In general, according to the results of the analysis of the last three months, the average rate of shooting down UAVs of the “Geran 4” type is almost 60%. When repelling individual attacks, the effectiveness of shooting down jet UAVs can be as high as 80%.

CTV has made the (pretty easy) call: Alberta has voted not to hold an independence referendum. With a bit less than half of the vote counted, it's 77% in favour of remain.

To honor all the newly appointed Ukraine experts who say Ukraine is doomed, I want to present you this legendary take. It was really a mainstream belief in 2022 that it is over for Ukraine. 5 years later, we still stand, take ground, destroy targets 2000km deep into Russia 😎

Bari Weiss' handpicked foreign editor referred to the allegations facing Benjamin Netanyahu as a "sideshow" and told correspondent Holly Williams she was "wrong" to try to mention them in her story, per leaked audio I obtained of Tuesday's heated internal meeting. www.status.news/p/bari-weiss...

years ago, in an interminable bathroom line at a Bills game, the guy behind me decided i would be his homophobia buddy, pointing to a guy in a Texans hat and yelling: "You know what they have in Texas, dontcha? STEERS and QUEERS." anyway the GOP is now that unpleasant drunk guy

NEW: In recent months, 200+ cities have cancelled their Flock contracts. But how much do its surveillance cameras actually cost? What about its software add-ons? Or its drone program? I FOIA'ed + researched cities across the country to find out: www.wired.com/story/how-mu...

wired.comWhat Flock Actually Costs Cities Across the CountryWIRED examined contracts from over two dozen cities and towns that shed light on how Flock’s pricing and business model functions, and how it stacks up against its peers.

My column this week is all about the fiscal time bomb awaiting governments in the AI age — "the twilight of labour," as some economists are calling. If we don't tax AI companies now, it's going to be much harder to do it later. www.thestar.com/opinion/star...

There is a remarkable cognitive dissonance in complaining that the social and regulatory state is completely broken, whilst simultaneously plotting arbitrary and self-defeating actions to peacock your deportation regime. it's donald trump's theme song!
