I'm a wrinkly old fantasy illustrator, best known for Lone Wolf, Redwall and loads of Games Workshop stuff. I live in Charente Maritime France in a house full of books, toy soldiers and dust.

How lucky are we? It's #StuffedSoldierSaturday! Mannequins used to be a museum favourite but, sadly, are falling from favour. Here's one of the best (sadly, now gone): the pre-Flavian #RomanCavalry eques at Corinium Museum in Cirencester (GBR). Disturbingly real if you saw it in the (horse) flesh.

I've just backed @badsquiddogames.bsky.social's latest Kickstarter. I think this is such an incredible way of combining deep historical research, commemoration and play. Annie has unearthed great storys about a diverse cast of people who fought against fascism: www.kickstarter.com/projects/bad...

‘About, about, in reel and rout The death-fires danced at night; The water, like a witch's oils, Burnt green, and blue and white.’ ~ Ancient Mariner, Coleridge. Tomorrow’s #BookWormSat visits the crossroads of the uncanny, the liminal and the supernatural thresholds of literature. Join us there.

These are nice, like little bits of jewelry.

More scenery! I’m gonna ride this terrain making manic train till it inevitably derails in a couple of days/weeks, whatever. A couple more ruin scatter and some braziers on stepped pillars. All from @fenrisgames.com who‘ll be getting another order later today for more rubbly bits.

The Ribchester helmet (late C1-early C2AD) was used in cavalry sporting or parade events. It was found in 1796 in a pile of rusty metalwork by a clog-maker’s son behind their workshop. On cleaning, this magnificent piece was revealed. It’s a great discovery tale 🏛️📷BM

Another Night Goblin for my Battlemarch army! This time I mixed the Tone Pro paints with Mini Colour and AK, which sorted out the satin problem for me. #PaintingWarhammer #WarhammerCommunity #daemonrich #WarhammerTonePro #nightgoblins

Proud to present my lifesize T. rex head, affectionately named Hannibal. I created this myself from start to finish- digital sculpture, resin 3D printing, painting, etc. Huge thanks to my friend @rj-palmer.com for instrumental crits and redlines during the sculpting process.

Quote post with something old you're proud of. Harboth's Orc Archers were originally released mid-May 1987 - roughly coterminous with my own release into the world. I scored an amazing deal on a complete box of them in 2020, and they're one of my favorite units to look at in my Oldhammer Orc army.

Rick Priestley told me that one of the films he had remembered when co-writing early Warhammer was Charlton Heston’s 1965 medieval love story The War Lord. And boy, can I see a lot of Warhammer in that picture!

Three more French knights painted tonight, (L-R) the comte de Dammartin, Jacques d’ Estrayelles & Renault d’ Aubigny. 28mm plastics from Victrix. I’ll get them varnished & based tomorrow.

Over on the dark side, someone has suggested that I use Artificial Intelligence to create my illustrations. This is completely untrue, I use Natural Stupidity and here's me doing it.

Over on "the other site" I was talking to a guy about my new print of Vonotar and I asked him if he'd like to see new versions of the maps in the books. Maps with great big fat borders featuring lone Wolf and "a cast of thousands, a compass rose and wobbly hand done lettering.

Got mine through the Kickstarter. Still have the original but wanted to support the relaunch. Took it to my Wargames club to play my son and attracted many contented nostalgic sighs from gamers of my vintage. The new game looks lovely and I forgot how lethal bows were….
