OpenAI: "Our newest model went in without a condom." Anthropic: "Our newest model went in without THREE condoms!" Imagine if they could just market the benefit to humanity instead of this sensationalist shit.

This Dax quote about how AI is changing tech is spot on: "We are experiencing a moment of great change. Everyone is very nervous about what that means for their own position in it. A defense mechanism is to confidently assert a future in which you're a winner." It's all relative.

Companies are unironically saying that they have "non-technical teams now shipping production code". The difference between code and software is gonna become REAL apparent to them in the next couple years 😅

Just learned about Hammock Driven Development. Kinda cool that there's a term for "step away from the keyboard before rapid firing code for new idea".

So you're telling me Claude functions by screaming at itself "WRITE GOOD CODE NO BUGS SECURE VERY STABLE", mashes compile button, reads back the error and yells ONLY GOOD CODE NO BUGS at itself again while crying and copying random things from Stack Overflow until it compiles? it just like me fr fr

Saying: "This is very different than generative AI; it’s content-control generative AI" Is like saying: "This is very different than dog shit; it's raspberry-flavored dog shit" I don't think they expected people to hate DLSS 5.

I like how Xbox was moving away from doing consoles, then randomly came back and decided they wanted to do a console that also played PC games. Somehow managing to give us twice as much stuff that no one asked for, lol

My new favorite Internet people-watching thing is seeing people ask incredibly vague questions, then provide no further context. Kinda want to write a bot that responds to them with a techno-babble or nonsensical answer. 😜

You know our country is fucked when there's a standoff over maintaining affordable healthcare, then the side fighting for it goes: "Okay, pinky promise we can talk about maybe keeping it later, and we'll concede". Knowing damn well it's not getting funded later.

Played some Hollow Knight after a long while of not playing and... Yeah man, Silksong just feels off in comparison. I couldn't put HK down, felt like a warm blanket of balanced challenge. With SS, I even started my file over once, and the beginning still felt off. More annoying than anything.

Saw a YT comment on a vod about Z-A's release: "pokémon fans jumping from joy after eating their annual dogshit" ... and man, if that don't resonate after the last few games. Like, hey, if you're enjoying it, have fun and enjoy! I'm just speaking with my wallet until we get better games.

Article reminds me of the time product managers kept suggesting to me (the tech lead on project) to build it all in Grafana because it has graphs and they wanted graphs. I patiently explained that it wasn't designed for that, and that graphing libraries solve their case. But holy shit.

San Francisco Chronicle posts an opinion piece entitled: "Extend Charlie Kirk the empathy in death he denied so many in life" ... Why? Shouldn't I deny him the empathy out of respect for them? No joy here, murder is an atrocity. But a dead man is the same man he was when alive, just gone now.

Pretty shit that Bethesda has a Steam sale that offers smth called "The Arkane Collection". A tribute to the hollowed-out husk of a great game studio that their execs covered in live-service diarrhea before eliminating them. Might as well call it the "fuck you, pay us money idiot" collection.

Some vibe coder got his database deleted by AI, then got lied to by the AI about it happening, then the AI explained how it intentionally ignored his mandate to not take action without the guy's review first.

Stephen A Smith really said "I think we'll be just fine without knowing whether or not there was a client list". So bro is either bought or is on the list, or both. Predators should face justice, no exceptions. Y'all think you're too rich to get caught, but it's time.

Xbox Showcase showed both a non-Pokemon Game Freak game and a Pokemon-like from another studio that looks impressive. Maybe Pokemon will actually get a developer that can innovate the old formula.

I've always been a Pokemon fan until recently, but the utter trash that they delivered in the Diamond/Pearl remakes and Scarlet/Violet was a bit much. Used to be a franchise that I insta-bought 2 copies of with my boy, but now just a "wait and see" series.

TIL that Math.Ceiling() in C# returns a decimal instead of an int. At a glance, seems like this might be to support larger int values. But, like... Isn't there a better way to do this? Why does a function that rounds up to an int value with no arg for decimal places return a decimal? lol

Why Lua for least favorite: Its lack of modern functionality makes it feel like a third-world programming language. Built-in table funcs (and more string funcs) would go a long way. Also, no static typing or type hints (like JS). Also, prototype-like approach to classes.

I'm about to finish Alien Isolation for the first time and... Wow, what an incredible game. Best horror game, and possibly one of the best games period, that I've ever played.

Apparently, Apple has "don't hallucinate" as one of its first prompt instructions for its Apple Intelligence AI... And my distrust of AI and AI responses feels pretty justified tbh.

Doing some JavaScript work and wondered: "Can I get Python-style type hints without TypeScript for personal projects?" JSDoc does it, but it's pretty verbose. So I settled on doing something like this and maybe writing a JSDoc plugin to handle it: /* @fn (key: string, val: int | bool) -> bool */

I kid you not, @itch.io has been taken down by Funko of "Funko Pop" because they use some trash "AI Powered" Brand Protection Software called Brand Shield that created some bogus Phishing report to our registrar, iwantmyname, who ignored our response and just disabled the domain
