I have templates for invoicing workflows and for packing under various configurations based on the length of the stay and destination. Much better than URL schemes because it allows you to quickly edit the templates from within Things.

I wonder if AI tools will increase engineering hires instead of reducing them, at least in the short term! The increased leverage AI tools provide to individual contributors is so significant that they are much more valuable. Many companies might accelerate hiring because of this.

In 2025, I want to read more books and scroll less on social media. For this reason, I set up a streak to read at least 20 pages per day and uninstalled social media from my phone. Also experimenting with reparable streaks: if I don't manage to read 20 pages today, I can fix it by reading 40 tmrw.

Reading "Why Nations Fail," which argues that a nation's prosperity is determined by the quality of its economic and political institutions. I wonder if the same will apply to Mars.

Speed matters, but hard to prioritize for an existing product. Thought of making Typefully local first many times, but always got pushback from the team because of the time investment it would require.

So now I am back on Arc, probably the best browser around, but the Browser Company declared they will no longer invest in it, so it's just a matter of time before this one becomes terrible too. Browsers are not in a good place right now.

Notion is so much better than folders in Finder for managing taxes. I don't know why I was doing that to myself before. Also, SOPs for managing not having to relearn terrible government UX each time.

On the one hand, I do think that social media is very bad for young people's mental health. On the other hand, social media was instrumental in my journey to find out what I wanted to do in life and to team up with like-minded people to do it from a very young age.

My action button runs a shortcut that turns on DnD for 30 mins. If I press it again it turns it off. Why 30m? Usually enough to get a task done without distractions.

Since we're talking about productivity. My iPhone action button = Send reminder to self. When I need to not forget something, I press the button and send an email to myself. I turned my inbox into a todo list with Spark. Emails (+reminders) are snoozed if unimportant. Something is done 👉 Archive.

The power of chronological timelines.

Traffic from Bluesky's @bsky.app to @theguardian.com is already 2x that of Threads In its first week on the platform & with 300k followers, Bluesky traffic from @theguardian.com posts is already higher than it was from TwX in any week in 2024, where the account had 10.8m followers, but🧵

Cursor indexes large codebases super fast, and it's quite useful when you wonder how an open-source project does something. Just open the project, wait one minute for indexing, and chat with the codebase.

After 10 days heads down coding with @toughyear.bsky.social Bluesky support for @typefully.com is finally here!

The best (and worst, for productivity 😂) thing about handheld devices like the Steam Deck is how easy they make it to play a quick game compared to gaming PCs or traditional consoles.

Got myself a SteamDeck OLED yesterday. Haven't had a console in years, so very excited to try many new games. Currently on my list: - Factorio - Hotline Miami What else should I play? Also, should I get a docking station to play on TV?

What do you currently use as a task manager, and what are your biggest frustrations or dream features?

Fabrizio Rinaldi@fabrizio.so

Playing with the idea to build a todo app/task manager with @frankdilo.com at some point. We both love Things, but we also envision a more modern, flexible tool. Hopefully we’ll find some time to build a proof of concept.

I wonder how many people who get really bad sleep do so because of overconsumption of caffeine. Common advice (Uberman) is that you are okay if you have coffee at least 8 hours before sleep, so like before 2 PM usually, but I have noticed that any coffee apart from the morning one impacts my sleep.

Definitely something moving here. The real question is how do you keep it this way as the network grows bigger.

Unique daily posting users have grown for a week. Yesterday, bluesky had a huge spike. Folks feel welcomed here and then harassed when they share it in X. Tons of stories of people surprised others are showing honest interest in what they share. They're staying. And they're telling others to join 🦋

They might go the Discord route apparently bsky.app/profile/pata...

For new folks wondering about a future ads-ridden future for this place. The last hints that the @bsky.app team gave about their future plans is that they want to avoid the ads route, and instead try a paid subscription model. But that paying won't get you more reach. I would happily support them.
